What? Wow? Reed already sort of has a sister, Huntara from the DeFalco run,

but that is tied up with .... oh, time travel/alt 'verses too. (plus, I must admit, a version of Nathaniel Richards, Reed's father, that I like more than recent versions of the character)

Dan Slott said on Twitter that Huntara will be addressed in later issues. Thank goodness. I hope we get to see her again. It’s been way too long…

A couple of changes and I can see the Waid origin being translated to the MCU.

From the letter page of FF 680:

In terms of Valeria, while we tend to be a little loosey-goosey with things (as we are with all the characters' ages), we figure Val to be somewhere around 11 or 12 after her time away with the family.
This makes a lot of sense to me and the comment Sue made about her teenage daughter might be attributable to Val's somewhat stressful personality. She's a pre-teen and God help Reed and Sue.

The hunts by each of the Kangs left a very unpleasant taste in my mouth. The callousness exhibited coupled with how it was repeated… I also hate it when AU characters are treated as disposable substitutes.

And goodness, the inks did not complement JRJR's pencil at all!

Good, someone noticed the apparently narrowed age gap and corrected it. If Val's 11 now, then she'd have been 6 before Secret Wars. Franklin would probably have been 10 which would make him 15 now. Their last stated ages had been 3 and 8, but that had been a while before SW, and when their birthdays are can easily explain a five year gap becoming a four year one (Val having had a birthday when Franklin hasn't).

This also puts Val's age pretty close to Moon Girl, who is 9.

Happy about Val's age being closer to what it should be, but it also makes the whole Aboro thing even more uncomfortable to me.

    Where do I start.

Awful dialogue, horrible pointless shock deaths, 90s rehashed shock ending that'll be forgotten with a new writer and Slott still can't write Sue at all.

The Waid story and art was actually really decent even though we've seen it so many times it was the best part of the book for me, I'll assume Slott will be off the book after his war story ends thankfully.

Oh and I use to like JRJR but his art in this was diabolical for the 60th, it should have been the BEST Marvel has to offer like Larraz, Asrar, Mcguinness, Silva or Pichelli.

For a happier post, here's Mark Brooks tweeting the cover from start to finish:

It didn't suck. Issue 680, the 60th anniversary was far from great, but it wasn't a smouldering turd. I'd probably go 3 or 4 on a scale of 1 to 10.

The book reminds me a lot of FF 100 which was a lack luster issue where the FF fought android duplicates of all of their foes. A fairly simple celebratory tale. I speculate that Slott wanted something that would encompass the history of the FF and be able to hit different time periods within their experiences. Kang seemed like a natural as time is kinda his thing. Members from different eras come together as the Fantastic Four and win. One and done. There's the reason behind the tale which opens up a future plot development. The target wasn't that far up for this one as I've seen with some of Slott's stuff where he does aim high and doesn't have the talent to pull it off well. This wasn't one of them, just an old school story.

Elsewhen was mentioned where Huntara is from. I’m getting Monica vibes from the image we saw.
