Franklin's being written with angst and rebellion. The path they have him headed on, he could become a villain.

As much crap as Slott gets about Franklin's angst, I think the character's attitude makes sense. Franklin had the power of a god, and remade the multiverse. Then he lost that power and the rest of his family went on with the gifts they had and he was left behind, basically useless. With a teenager, the angst and whining has a good reason.

He took off to hang with Wendy, an old Byrne character in one story. It wasn't a BF/GF thing, but it definitely looked like Franklin was open to at least the possibility. He's also talked some with a girl on Yancy Street through Ben's social center. As for other prospective girlfriends, there are many teen women characters hanging around Marvel who could certainly attract the attention of any teenage heterosexual boy.

But to the point of your question, there hasn't been much on that front.

I don't think he's met Katie in story after aging up. She was a nefarious presence in Chris Eliopoulos' Franklin Richards stories which may be what you're thinking of.

What happened to the device from the tail end of DeFalco’s run that let him change back and forth? I understand WHY it was forgotten, but I don’t recall it ever getting mentioned again, even when he had a new way to become human once a year…. Only thing I can figure is that it was packed away with all of the other crap that Nathaniel Richards hid in the Negative Zone. I don’t think they ever got that stuff back…

In issue 416, Reed has to use parts of the machine to make something that will help them fight Onslaught so Ben tells him its ok to use it to save Franklin.
