Eh... there's nothing really jumping out at me from the new department that seems interesting, outside of Intersect but that's only because of the art. Also, Casanova Vol. 2 with four issues for 30 bucks?! I expect that sort of thing from Marvel...

    What I'll be reading:
    Alex+Ada #10
    C.O.W.L. #6
    Deadly Class #9
    Lazarus #13
    Manifest Destiny #12
    Outcast #6
Protectors Inc. #10 (finale for the first arc?!)
    Revival #25
Sex Criminals #10 (considering the release schedule for this series, I'm seeing this issue out in Januaray)
    Sheltered #14
    Southern Bastards #6
    Umbral #11
    Velvet #10
    Wayword #4
    Wytches #2
    (a rather slow month)

    What'll Buy:
    Rat Queens Vol. 2
    Shutter Vol. 1
Wildfire Vol. 1 is a maybe (why $15?)

Also, best cover from Image that month.

Gonna definitely be checking out Drifter. I've liked all of the small sample size I've read of Ivan Brandon. I'll also probably be checking out Tooth & Claw.
Comics were definitely happier, breezier and more confident in their own strengths before Hollywood and the Internet turned the business of writing superhero stories into the production of low budget storyboards or, worse, into conformist, fruitless attempts to impress or entertain a small group of people who appear to hate comics and their creators. -- Grant Morrison, 2008

trade-waiting - Ice Cream Man, Monstress

backlog - Blade of the Immortal, Mignolaverse, Promethea, X-Cutioner's Song

What's funny is how lame and overrated Image started out as a comic company, it was all style over substance, it was like a bunch of artists were trying to write and had like fifteen lines of dialogue in 22 pages of pictures....now it's like 20 years later and Image is full of the most innovative and risk-taking ventures, all these new books sound risky but cool. I like that they are willing to let their writers think far outside the superhero box while Marvel and DC just seem to rehash the same ideas over and over in different ways. Although to be fair I guess you can run out of things to do with characters after they have been around for 75 years....like I love Batman but they are just overdosing fans on books about him this year.
