The rest of the speech E9E09ED7-D969-4032-B4E1-C761DA291F7B.jpg

We also saw her finally end things with Havok 85858FA5-19AA-426C-9D84-6A55C4F9AF5A.jpg

And defend herself against Random A3304C65-70A5-4A08-9D06-E3865C3FDBCB.jpg

I hope she can start to get that kind of development around the X-Men instead of X-Factor

Images are too small to read. I think I know where most are from though.

We saw these same things in Austen's run, except with Austen it was all connected to a Genosha point of origin. It all fit together. There was an arc with that as its foundation. She received therapy with Xavier following the Genoshan genocide. Over the course of that therapy and her experiences, she developed a new world view from which she had her speech at the end of Austen's Uncanny X-Men run in Uncanny X-Men #443.

The therapy and speech cited with X-Factor were separate, disjointed moments. Dealing with mental toll and body image issues following her possession, mind control, and "secondary mutation" history was a singular issue. The speech she gave in defense of mutants was a singular issue. Nothing about the former led into the latter. We can't say being possessed caused her to have a greater appreciation for mutants.

They're meaningful moments that we can say contributed to Lorna later getting better treatment than when Claremont was writing her. It could even be argued that later work with her like her time on Genosha and post-Genosha might not have happened without X-Factor. Damage done to a character needs new work to either fix that damage or help it fade from memory. But singular moments aren't really character development. Compared to how All-New X-Factor could be considered character development because we saw her leadership develop (missteps in #4-6 aside) across the book from a foundation of being its leader throughout.

Edit: I should add that Lorna's sibling-like dynamic with Pietro on X-Factor was also valuable and no doubt contributed to things that have happened with and for her. But that's also separate from the character development matter.

Polaris has one of the smartest dresses in my opinion. Pretty, simple and thematic.

The Austen run is the only one that did anything with her in terms of that but it unfortunately was terrible and forgettable stain in X-men history which is why its never highly regarded. Outside of that, she's largely been generic and supporting, never quite being lead or a driving force of any storyline, status quo or getting much in the way of personal development
I think she has done interesting things on X-Factor and X-Men titles, but she has had real problems breaking from the early 90s nostalgia.

The dress is very cute and looks comfortable, but overall I wish she stylized more. Why can’t she have a giant headpiece of floating metal around her head? Feel like with the way Jean, Storm, Rachel, Emma, Illyana and Betsy are incorporating their powers in their looks, Lorna could’ve easily upped her game.
Emma Frost, Rogue, Felicia Hardy, Helena Bertinelli, Allison Blaire, Barbara Gordon, Monica Rambeau, Carol Danvers, Illyana Rasputin, Ororo Munroe, Harleen Quinzel, Lorna Dane, Irene Adler, Kate Kane, Rachel Grey Summers, Jean Grey, Diana Prince, Barbara Ann Minerva, Donna Troy, Jennifer Walters, Gwen Stacy, Wanda Maximoff = PERFECTION!

Holo dresses are pretty cool and her design will look stellar especially during dark, if it glows.
