I think the Storm/Crystal comparison is interesting, but I disagree on a couple of points, and also think Crystal needs to get some more respect on her name. I do think they are comparably versatile (with Storm’s environmental adaptability balancing that out), and based on their feats Storm is more powerful overall. But I think Crystal is extremely powerful and would rival Polaris in terms of overall level, meaning if she were a mutant she’d be a very strong Alpha. Lifting Attilan on a bed of earth (millions if not billions of tons) is one of the most impressive feats of any of earth’s elementally powered characters.

Disagree- Storm hasn’t shown the ability to control fire. It make sense that she could on certain levels, but in terms of what she’s actually done on panel at BEST we could say she can generate it. Agitating air molecules to heat up Beast, bursting the atmosphere with the heatwave attack and creating a fire or Beast taking her off planet so she wouldn’t set the atmosphere on fire supports Storm being able to create it sans lightning.

She hasn’t shown the abillity to control earth either. She has caused earthquakes and opened it up and directed lava to the surface, but that is EM field manipulation to effect the physical earth medium vs directly controlling it like Crystal.

Lightning/plasma is the highest manifestation of fire. She could do stepped down fire if she wanted to, but why? And earth is just frozen air, or the 'hail of the ether'. All solid matter is just exhaust from stars. It's governed by electrons, which she can directly manipulate. There should be no matter beyond her control because she controls the fundamental building blocks. Thunderstorms even naturally generate anti-matter. The zero point energy just lying around is tremendous. All of that should be in her toolkit.

Fire is a simple element, if ororo can control temperature, plasma and other forms of energy, fire is within her reach, especialy with her wind prowees.

its interesting that ororo is such a big picture esque elemental we ask ourselves she can use more pedestrian elemental displays, because normaly we start in the simple then get to the complicated, ororo is the reverse.

Also why are we discussing crystal? the omega datapage AND Death of the Inhumans have crowned a clear winner, inside and outside the pages.

About magic and ororo, heres an opinion:
she should have a lot of raw power that melts with her inherited mutant abilities, but it be interesting to see it being a chalenge to her, to funnel away the inherit magic she posses into proper spellcasting, ororo isn't a half measures person so i don't see her allowing herself not to be properly proficient in magic, not simply leaving it be so it can grow into something she has no perception or control over. (like the scarlet witch)

Im not saying she should be bad at it, but it should be a journey of hardwork, training and practise, especially if she could get a mentor on her mother's line to teach her, then it can double as a spiritual journey of enlightment as her powers are deeply conected to her sense of self and how she moves in the world.
It could create a sense of hardship without removing her powers, making her journey more relatable and emotional AND prevent her being too "op"


In a more pratical way, i feel her magic can be supportive/jack of all trade/complementary, inheritly flowing with her mutant abilities.
Like a variation of crimson bands, it takes her tons of time to master that spell to proficiency, but in combat with her hard-earned skill + her inherited powers, she can use that spell trough whatever element she is using with her mutant abilities, creating a lightning crimson bands.

Wich by excalibur IS mutant magic, the crossing of mutant energy with magic creates an X, at the center that new power is born.

Exactly she controls the fundamentals that determines weather this is why her elemental powers are soo potent there is no elemental being that can out maneuver her in control if written well. Because as I pointed out in other forums she controls all fundamental forces, energy and elements that govern weather in the universe. On earth we have a idea that weather is tornadoes, thunderstorms and the like. But storm's power allows her to go beyond that due to the nature of her powers. I really believe she can make storms of magic or temporal storms. Heck if she can apply kinetic energy behind wind to nanobots to control them directly as components then there is very little she can't control.

Healing spells, embedding someone with life, minor telepathy/telekinesis, teleportation, gathering mystical energy for energy bolts and magic shields...basic magic user stuff



The only person I can think of who controls water is Hydro-Man and Storm already one shot him. I can't think of any air users on Storm's level.

ooh I love the idea of healing spells. that sounds like something that would fit nicely.


I also like the idea of ferro that she should take time to learn this and seeing she doesn't have experience really with magic I wouldn't oppose to it being difficult for her to use.
