Thank you all for your responses-- I'm amazed: I really felt I was the lone curmudgeon, didn't want to rain on anyone's potential enjoyment, but gosh, darn it, yeah: meh. Done to, pardon the expression, death. So glad to find I'm not alone wondering 'does anyone even want this?' Heh. Well, not I, anyway, not I.

MacKay is doing pretty good job these days, so I am hopeful about the quality at the very least.
Oh great. The new Sorcerer Supreme will be Black Cat. Ugh.

This crap isn't even going to be about Dr. Strange. It's going to be about OTHER characters finding his murderer and stepping into his shoes. It sounds like that awfulness of Jason Aaron's Original Sin mini-series, which trashed Nick Fury so he could be shoved aside for Fury Jr. and even tried to mess up the Winter Soldier by sending him off to space as the retconned "man on the wall" nonsense.

I swear. I don't know why I bother reading modern comics anymore.
Namor the Sub-Mariner, Marvel's oldest character, will have been published for 85 years in 2024. So where's my GOOD Namor anniversary ongoing, Marvel?

    Magneto kills Doctor Strange
I am a Marvel fan preferably cosmic storylines, especially Thanos or Dark Phoenix related, when both the Avengers and the X-Men are involved count me in, loved the original Uncanny Avengers series.
Not a fan of any of the new characters.

Who killed Stephen Strange? Sounds like a game of Clue. Perhaps Wong did it in the Library with the Orb of Agamotto. Or maybe Clea killed him in the Study with the Flames of Faltine.

    I don't think they'll go that overboard.

Remember when Dr Strange was the ONLY person in the Marvel Universe not to die, in the 60s storyline of how he earned the Sorcerer Supreme moniker?

I wouldn’t worry about his “death.” Stephen has actually battled the embodiment of Death and won before.

Am I the only one getting "What If...?" vibes from that solicit?

I don't think this is in continuity. Or at least I hope it's not.

I'm finding harder and harder NOT to be a curmudgeon...

I'm pretty sure it is, based on this:

    https://www.marvel.com/articles/comi...1-announcement

In particular this sort of language:

"This rousing journey will dive into the mythos behind Doctor Strange, showcasing his unique—and vital—position amongst Marvel’s heroes and ultimately transform the future."

Especially since they already DID a "Doctor Strange: The End" What-If last year.

I do think it makes a morbid kind of sense that Marvel can't stop de-powering Strange so they may as well just kill him off at this point. Nothing else to do with him, right ?

I’ve a feeling the new SS will be either Doom or Wanda.

Wanda would have to actually appear in comics and have actual speech bubbles and appear in more than three panels for that to happen. That is not going to happen. She might get to be SS in a variant cover, of course, but that's about it.

The most likely candidates are Doom, Voodoo, Magik, Clea, Shaman, or Wiccan.

Again, it'll be a fake out.

If not, it'll be an OC.

    Regardless, NO.
