Yea there was another person before Jason Todd named Jason Bard. Before Dick Jason was a long time boyfriend. Funny enough bro Jason's were red hairs. Bard does appear in other comics outside the main one.

Eternal kind of screwed over Bard. Her last run used him, and its reception was pretty mixed because of what Eternal did with him.

This is great, of course Batman must show up in a Batgirl movie. Babs idolises Batman so it only makes sense he shows up to explain how Babs looks up to him.
She does name herself after Batman.
He doesn't need to be in the entire film but its great he will be included.
