Barbara is the most well known Batgirl so when there is gonna be a movie about Batgirl, she would be the Batgirl but there is one thing that holds against Barbara is that she is an iconic victim of the Joker so that doesnt make her that much of an empowering female figure. A hero that got humiliated by a villain.

That's never stopped media adaptions before.

Harley's an iconic victim of the Joker too, and yet she's been turned into an empowering female figure, so I don't think that argument entirely holds water. Quite a lot of popular female characters who symbolize female empowerment have some sort of victimization in their backstory.

Sure but when there is an art where Joker does this. At least Harley got to do something against Joker while Barbara doesnt. Harley didnt get crippled and humiliated like Barbara.

How do you promote this girl to be an empowering female figure when there is an art that goes against it?

But she didn't just curl up and die after The Killing Joke. She always has found a way to fight back and become stronger in the long-run, whether it be as Oracle or the post-Flashpoint Batgirl.

But I guess that's not "empowering" for you?

When the same villain keeps murdering other people and she does not do much to stop him then yes. She is a failed hero. Jason at least went for the guy. Even her dad is becoming a hitman to go after Joker.

Exactly, looking for reason to skate her out of the mantle.
It’s her the and the movie will be here as well

Still not a great success rate for actually taking him out...

Is Batman a failed hero because he didn't try and kill the Joker? Babs holds the same no-kill rule as he does, and I'm pretty sure at this point Bruce has been, collectively, personally victimized more than Barbara was.

You have a really messed up and simplistic view of women, trauma, and people who become disabled. Nearly everyone is victimized at some point in their lives, but Babs picked up the pieces and keeps going. EVERY Bat character has been through tremendous suffering; part of why they are so relatable to DC fans is because they are quite vulnerable compared to the rest of the super-powered universe but remain heroes in spite of the high cost. To their persons, to their bodies; they all take the gamble. Was Bruce Wayne a failure after Bane snapped his back and put him out of commission for a while? Maybe he should have just quit while he was ahead, by your logic. After all, Bane continued to be a thorn in Bat's side for a long time.

As for the cover, gee, it's almost like A. It was a sensationalist piece meant to get outrage clicks and B. DC Comics doesn't tackle female trauma, especially sexual trauma, all that seriously or maturely, even today. Anyone else remember the sexy dead Ivy pose that Clay Mann graced us with during HiC? But how does that reflect negatively on Ivy, or Batgirl, or any other character? It says more about the artist and the lack of self-awareness at DC to allow stuff like this.
