Throwaway line is like when Marjorie Liu noted Lorna and Gambit were once horsemen during Iceman's arc in Astonishing X-Men. You know there's no plans for it, it's not going to factor into the story being told, there hasn't been an undercurrent across multiple books of trying to remind people about it, it's obvious that it's just a quick nod.
It was nothing more than a joke in the intro page of Strange Academy. Which hardly ever go into any actual panel development. So they are definitely usually throwaway. It's like teaser variants where nothing like the cover goes on in the actual comic. Which has been pretty usual for Wanda. Who was featured on covers that she never appeared in during the past few years.

Article are written for lots of reasons, the main one being it brings clicks. That was more than enough to write this, it's being discussed as we speak the reporter did their job to fans of Havok and/or Lorna. This post may as well be free advertising for that article.

It absolutely was a throwaway. There’s no conspiratorial agenda, it was just a fun little, lighthearted nod. You’re reaching.

I can hardly believe I will finally get to watch this show tomorrow. It hardly feels real.

Makes you wonder how things would have gone if John Byrne wasn’t a spiteful ass and started the mess that culminated in Wanda’s current status quo

The immediate consequences would be the marriage continuing. Because Wanda never cuts her hair and tries to join her father in villainy (because Byrne also thought Max should be evil to). That never happens because Vision never goes through his white phase, and the OG twins aren’t demon hands.

Bendis uses some other plot device to reduce the number of mutants. Maybe the High Evolutionary. Wanda and Vision are removed from the Avengers team anyway in the early 2000s, but in a less insulting way. Maybe they even skipped the events entirely because they were at a PTA meeting in New Jersey, and didn’t realize anything was wrong until they get a call during dinner at their local pizza parlor.

The consequences to Billy and Tommy are also altered. Their appearance and powers for one thing. According to The Last Avengers Story by Peter David, Tommy was the one who inherited his mother’s sorcery and goes on to be the Sorcerer Supreme, and Billy became a cyborg and the Grim Reaper. Would that have sort of depiction held any sway over the OG twins? After all, the twins would never have been revealed as demonic soul shards, or been reincarnated as the Tommy and Billy we know and love today.

Would OG Billy eventually find a gift for magic and a beefy space king? Would Tommy had suddenly developed a mutation for speed during an emergency, and after joining the Xavier Academy, literally run into Prodigy and developed a relationship? Luna was once older than them. Would she be a teenager now, with or without her empathy powers?

It’s hard to say. It would certainly make for a fascinating AU.

The show seems like an exceptional piece of television, I hope it cements the seperation of the maximoffs from mutanthood and Magneto
