Maybe it's due to him not being biologically their father, although you make a good point about an adoptive father still being a father. To me, it makes sense he'd want a synthezoid family, but it could come off creepy like you said

So... is ''Professor Hulk'' from That Hashtag Show a reliable source? I know Charles Murphy used to write for that website, but I haven't kept up with it since he left. Anyway, I ask because they recently published a Spider-Man scoop claiming Marvel is ''keen on adding Miles Morales to the Young Avengers'' in the MCU. People are naturally freaking out already due to the speculation of a YA/Champions merge coming true.
Team might be too big then, wouldn't it?
Honestly, I kind of doubt it just because Marvel doesn't own Miles right now. Like, gods know how long their agreement with Sony is going to last, so I don't know if they'd use him like that. Now, if they managed to get the rights back, it'd be a whole different thing, but as it stands? Nah, I don't but it.
Please don’t come at me for being ten years late, but I finally read Children’s Crusade and I kind of disliked it.
I really liked the first volume and the special, but I felt like everyone acted really dumb in CC. Focus shifted away from the other team members a lot and I felt they just kept on throwing new characters and plot twists into each issue. Patriot was the worst and then they put him into limbo, Iron Lad showed up out the blue and MURDERED Vision with no repercussions, and Cassie dying seemed very unnecessary.
How do you guys generally view this story? I’m not tryna come here and be a hater I’m just wondering if anyone else had a similar experience.
For me, having read it during its publication period, I was very excited. It was beautiful and vibrant and finally addressing some subplots I was very invested in. It suffered from multiple delays if I recall correctly and upon reflection I find that I DO filter the story -- heartily embracing some parts while vehemently opposed to others.
It certainly had some controversial goals -- the rehabilitation of Wanda by way of Doom, and the confrontation with the mutants by way of X-Men. Its certainly not perfect but as with most Young Avengers tales, I treasure it -- albeit selectively. So yeah, I feel where you're coming from Kingdom X. There was a fair share of character missteps in my humble opinion. Wolverine being straight up ready to murder Billy for example, or Cyclops' unrelenting aggression, and even Rogue's empathy (particularly considering how she behaved in subsequent stories in Uncanny Avengers specific to Miss Maximoff) Overall there were several characters that behaved poorly or irrationally and I mean, that's also true to life, but that truth doesn't make it less disappointing for me.

I love Children's Crusade for BillyTeddy's first kiss, the lovely Cheung art of the team, Magneto meeting the twins, and Wanda finally getting to meet the twins. There were other small things I adored, but it's definitely not perfect. I think other elements were like...almost there, if that makes sense? Like, from Billy nuking the serpent society being the triggering event was nice, but Logan being all "let's kill a 16 year old" was uhhhh.... uncomfortable, especially since the only people actually harmed were basically neo-nazi's. You'd think the way he was he'd sarcastically congratulate him. And the Avengers just like, trying to keep Billy locked up would've made sense if they got Strange to come in and be like, "let me help you, cause I couldn't help Wanda", but they just sorta kept them without doing anything.
Also, please correct me if I'm wrong, but I could've sworn I read somewhere that the story wasn't exactly like Heinberg wanted bc Marvel wanted CC to set up AvX? Or something to the tune of that? Cause I feel like the ending that should've happened was Wanda repowering mutants, but like, she only got to do Rictor before she got....yelled at .

Thank you Fokken and Waking Replica! Billy and Teddy definitely held up the story for me even though Billy was acting a lil crazy for plot purposes. I'm sure it must have been hype reading at the time because so many huge Marvel universe plots were being addressed with the YA at the center of it all.
Mik, the X-Men were being aggressive because Wanda essentially wiped out the mutant race which led to their lives somehow getting even worse than normal. They definitely overplayed Cyclops' anger in order to make it seem like everyone was in the wrong.
I really really *wanted* to like it, but it read a bit like a fanfic trying to fix everything that had come before, and not in the manner of Avengers Forever or similar continuity porn. There were a lot neat moments (Magneto being all grand-dad was 'awwww'), and a lot of moments that I thought I wanted to see, but upon seeing them, I was kinda, 'eh, not quite like that...'
The art was pretty. But wow, so many guest-stars, and they just kept showing up and then getting shoved aside.
Also I mentioned this in my original post but Patriot’s role really pissed me off. First they make him a drug addict, then he gets all this depth in the Special issue and the Young Avengers: Presents comic that set him up for interesting stories tackling race in America. Then, all of that is dropped so he can be a stick in the mud for all of Children’s Crusade and he’s the only surviving member that doesn’t get to join the official Avengers? It’s a no for me.
