That said, Martin Campbell is notorious for being a "shooter", a director you bring in who'll do whatever the producers want, whereas Zack Snyder's reputation is decidedly more independent.
Yeah, either way, Reynolds and Lively would have hooked up. The only difference would have been that Reynolds wouldn't have been so miserable during filming and Zack Snyder's Green Lantern likely would have been a controversial superhero film with a disappointing box office instead of another middling studio film that bombs badly enough to become a punch line.
Either way, I don't think that GL movie would have been what audiences were looking for.

I thought she was an interesting love interest for Hal and had plenty of upside storywise.
I stopped reading regularly once Johns left, but she was just kinda cast aside and forgotten about shortly after the relaunch.
