Did they ever follow up on the story from Death Metal where Hal gave Sinestro a GL power ring? In the current GL book Sinetro is back to his old ways, so I imagine he must have thrown away his GL ring off-screen?

Maybe he has it hidden away for sentimental reasons.

Honestly, dropping storylines off-screen they previously started during a line-wide event just comes off as amateur hour on any publisher's part.

Given how DC had their editorial staff completely gutted by AT&T’s corporate ghouls, I think I’m a little more forgiving about a few dropped plot lines that fell through the cracks while they were trying to course correct on a publishing initiative that was already underway until their head honcho was unexpectedly fired.

What's the story there? Why is Hal a child?

I think it was a dream sequence.

I believe it was really more that Hal had become so powerful, he could recreate his reality to suit him. (He wasn't actually on earth in that scene)

Well, he is the "greatest", so he has plot armor. Or at least used to have.

It is weird that in All-Star Batman and Robin he wasn't treated very well, while in Dark Knight Strikes Again and Master Race he is pretty much a god dwarfing everyone in sheer power. And the image of Hal's severed hand floating in front of him is weird as hell. I always wondered how Hal Jordan focused Miller's book would look like.
