Default Superhero (who happens to be black) Appreciation 2021

A Marvel Comics Superhero who happens to be black leading an entire country, has been succesfully depicted on screen last decade.

Given that there are no other MC Superheroes who happen to be black leading an entire country,
the next best thing is to have them depicted in either the cinema or Disney+ leading a super hero team.

Examples of MC Superheroes who happen to be black leading super hero teams in the comics are:

    Storm
    Captain Marvel
    Night Thrasher

Thanks for this and Happy New Year.

I may not be the best artist but my free time goal this year is to fill this appreciation with fan arts of as many black superheroes in marvel as possible, obscure or not.

Can't believe you didn't put Blade in the poll

as far as a team based setting, I'm in favor of Luke Cage leading a Heroes for Hire group. Barring that, I wouldn't mind seeing him being the field boss of the in-custody-crooks Thunderbolts team (but that would mean that the "original" Thunderbolts would have to be produced as a film/TV show before the later incarnation took place)..

The poll didn't even have room for Falcon or Black Panther, so I'm not surprised Blade didn't make the cut.

Looks good. And that's a great idea, especially with respect to some of the more obscure heroes out there. I might contribute something, time permitting.

    Default Mystery Men Reborn

If it's ok to expand the poll to comics and not just the MCU, I'd love for Marvel to refresh the 1940s superhero team the Mystery Men with the Revenant (Ezekial Wright) being the co-founder and guiding spirit (in more ways than one) to a new team of members all seeking good ol' fashion truth and justice in the modern world. I'm not sure who should make up the roster, but I'd reserve a spot for someone like Tamara Devoux. A single mother with a terminal condition, Tamara nevertheless continues to fight the good fight with the remaining vestiges of the Uni-Power that she has from her time as Captain Universe. The book need not be cosmic in scale, but some truths are that and more.

I'm curious as to why the super heroes, who happen to be black, get conslidated into one thread? Also, I'm not sure if anyone else has thought about this but Adam Brashear is sort of like Jor el if had escaped kyrpton with Lara and Kal to earth. Genius scientist with superhuman strength.

These are the exclusions that I'm most curious about.

I'm in favor of Blade leading a new supernatural based Defenders. Lots of folks dig the name Midnight Sons but I want women on the team.

Then let's give them an entirely new name.
