    SHE-HULK (Disney+ series)
    BLACK KNIGHT ("Eternals")
CAPTAIN AMERICA character (I'd guess Sam Wilson from Disney+ "Falcon and the Winter Soldier", maybe *both* characters)
    (a) THOR type (Not Jane because I can't see Portman committing beyond "Love and Thunder")- maybe we get Hercules
NAMOR (Rumored to be in the "Black Panther" sequel)
    WAR MACHINE
    (no mystic)
(From AVENGERS #279 when Monica is nominated for Avengers Chairperson)

I'd like to see her be the leader in a movie.

curious. So Monica's dad was a firefighter.. Still alive in the comics, yes? (I am aware that Warren Ellis wrote a rather dismissively ugly off-camera death for her mom, or at least a reference to it..)

Both of Monica's parents are still alive in the comics (Monica's mom just appeared in a few weeks ago, as she and Monica were shopping for supplies for her father's birthday party). Nothing about Monica's backstory from NEXTWAVE is accurate--later stories have since revealed some reality-altering manipulations behind the scenes in NEXTWAVE that accounts for why so many things in that series (especially when it comes to Monica) are inaccurate.

So her parents are nothing like in the MCU?

No. Her father was a firefighter until he retired and then went into Monica's charter boating business with her, and her mother is a seamstress who runs her own dress shop.

To fit her into Carol's story.

Makes sense, I guess. They really raise up her mom's profile in the MCU

Actually, per Ewing's handling of Monica, the NextWave stuff was all real, but there may have been some reality manipulation with some aspects of Monica's story. That's why she's running around with a trench coat now.

Yes. That's why I said it wasn't accurate, not that it didn't happen. The events of NEXTWAVE happened, but nothing that Monica said in that series about her origins, family, history, etc, is correct. She did not have powers as a child. Her parents are not dead. Etc, etc.

if you're not a stickler about animal abuse jokes, the dog-blasting gag was still funny.. so much about that series was indefensible as 'canon' but as a standalone "something" it worked..

Pretty much Marvel just squatting on the name to piss off DC and force them to keep calling their Captain Marvel 'Shazam.' Kids. So petty.
Pretty much as said, but the crew member said it in French/Spanish (Creole?)... from her debut and origin story in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN ANNUAL #16:

What exactly is her hairstyle in that comic? Were they trying to replicate that in the show?

That is a natural afro hairstyle. With some exceptions, Monica Rambeau has featured natural African-American hairstyles are part of her signature look. Afros, braids, locks, etc. She was shown to have straightened her hair late in her original Avengers run (it's referenced in the dialogue), but natural hair is pretty much her thing. John Romita wanted to model her after pop icon actress Pam Grier from her classic 70s bombshell days, he was re-directed to a different model, but the hairstyle remained.

Monica's 70s look as "Geraldine" most directly references the style but the overall appearance of Monica's hairstyle through the series is consistent with natural afro-hairstylesf the current era.
