Seems like things have gone backwards to some degree.

Female heroes being leaders of the teams. This happened to both X-Men and Avengers but doesn't seem to be happening right now. Unless maybe there's something missing

I'm just happy that Monica is at least in the discussion for team leader whenever an opportunity arises.

I just wish Marvel would stop trying to impose limitations on how her powers operate...stupid crap like "she thinks at normal human speed."

Was Monica being considered to lead a team recently? I'm out of the loop.

I find that pretty frustrating especially when you consider that more than half of her feats have explicitly been speedster feats. Like, why has she not been barreling into walls if that were case. She'd be constantly disoriented

Considered is one thing but chosen is quite another

Not on the Avengers as far as I know.

In the mid 2000'st powerful women were either killed or married off. And they even wanted to go back to the only one woman in every team with the men leading way from the 60's. Jean killed. Storm married away. Emma just became a glorified stripper through a retcon.

Yeah, that upset me when they wanted to move Mon out of the way. I always heard Roger Stern was upset but then he got tired of people saying it and he became not so nice.

Yes, of course. She's led the main Avengers team as well as the Mighty Avengers. If memory serves, she was also the team tactical lead on Avengers: No Road Home. Monica gets her opportunities in the first chair. I'll never be worried about her. It's some of the other women who don't get to lead that concern me.

Marriage shouldn't stop them being leaders. It didn't stop Reed Richards. And the one woman per team thing is idiotic.

I'd like to see other heroines get a chance to lead

...at least I like to think that this was the culmination of all his Monica frustrations.

    What happened with him?
For the first I agree. I don't know why it should change because its a woman.

And for the second: He just became belligerent to the fans on his own blog (twitter?). And said to stop mentioning it, like it wasn't as important to him, or it just was not anymore. Which was odd because he could not stop telling the story about editorial.
