This cartoon will be the introduction to the Batman mythology to preschoolers.

Filmation Batman was my introduction to Batman; BTAS was the introduction for many to Bats.

Don't underestimate the power of introduction...remember Super Friends or, worse, Teen Titans Go.
none of those shows were targeted toward preschoolers. don't overestimate the mental capacity of toddlers, trust me they will not care. the most important thing is the association.

most kids at a certain age realize that these kinds of shows are dumbed down for them and will begin to move on to more complex programming. when that happens, they will be more than capable of reconciling the difference between this and the traditional comic versions of these characters. however, what they will carry with them are the names and faces of their Bat-person, and they will look for that familiarity in other things. so sure, it is the an important animated project BUT it's characterization or faithfulness is not what's important.
