What Van Jensen did with John refutes all of that.

I think those were just excuses on why they don't want John to be in the spotlight lol

I think a character can be ready as long as said writer is fully invested and DC is fully behind said character.

Folks were on this very message board claiming John was not ready during those crazy blog wars in the past. I recall one claiming to have inside knowledge that no one was interested in seriously using John in outside media.

It is great that not being a favorite of Geoff Johns is no longer considered the worst fate ever for a fictional character.

The Lords are Order are pretty big jerks

Only the old Lords are that way. Both Kismet and Amethyst are Lords and they are nice. It's just like guardians being jerks and Ganthet and Sayd are nice.

The mixing of Oan and Fourth World mythologies works so well. And Simon Baz is a character I genuinely give a **** about now. Bravo, Redjack, bravo.

Only gripe is that some of the art felt very rushed and unpolished, but that sometimes happens with monthly comics.

Lords of order are magic, the maltusians are a super evolved race, but the didn't "evolve" into Lords of Order because they reject magic; that doesn't really seem to have anything to do with whats going on with John. plus, there has been no indication John has ever had any magical potential in his entire history, so it wouldn't really make since to just jump to him being a Lord of Order. We already saw earlier that John talked to Ganthet about sealing his powers away, seems pretty cut and dry. why the New Gods are getting involved is the real question.
