I have seen a panel where the redhead Marvel Girl is walking arm-in-arm with him.
I LIKED that! I like to think MG can see him thru all the muscle and bluster to be a gentle, kind and noble man.

I think Jean will not only bring out the best in Shiro, but the entire team. Jean will have interactions with each, but also promote healthy relations amongst all the members.

I just read the synopsis on X-Men 2 which featured more about Sunfire. I’m glad Duggar has evolved him from some World War II trope when he was first introduced by Dave Cockrum over 30 years ago.

It seems like a huge heel turn is coming with Shiro, but I bet he’ll end up being the hero we all want him to be. The guy’s got too much pathos and connections to the Japanes government to not **** things up unfortunately. Plus all the stories he’s had of going crazy with radiation poisoning over the years- he’d make an incredible foil to the X-men in this new age, I’d actually love him as a villain- but I’d prefer him as an X-man that has to prove it to himself why he’s earth’s greatest Japanese Mutant Krakoan hero.

Sunfire was created by Roy Thomas and Don Heck in 1970's X-Men #64 (January 1970). Honestly Duggan's Shiro scenes in #2 were perfunctory at best and in no way moved the character forward.

I do appreciate when "old" characters like Shiro evolve and change both in characterisations, appearance and powers over the time they're being written...it gives impression of growth, change and development.
