Like a Red Dragon, The Phoenix shall Soar in 2024!
No ponytail either. Just long, flowing, luscious red hair! <sigh...>

I shared the first drawing months ago on here but just saw the new Black Queen portrait. These are by Amelia Vidal, Character Designer for Marvel Studios' "What If...?".
I'm excited for the new show. I hope good things for all of the X-men and especially Jean. While I loved the 90's cartoon I realize the harm it did to Jean with how the character is perceived. It is time for them to do Jean justice. I hope we get to see Jean be strong and confident like she was in the other cartoons. The 90's cartoon may be the first in my heart but I have a special place for X-men Evolution. I was kind of eh on Wolverine and the X-men at first but it did grow on me. At least Jean had a story even though she wasn't in many episodes.
I've been wanting a new cartoon for so long and now I have an excuse to keep my Disney plus account active.
Heads up: Amelia Vidal, whose portraits I posted above, is the Head Designer for X-Men ‘97! Jerry Gaylord is also on the artistic team. Here’s a piece by Jerry:
Yay! I see Morph present.

When they box you into the "wilting, fainting mom-damsel" role one too many times:

Since this X-Men 97 is picking up from the X-Men 90s animated series, i sure hope i don't see Jean fainting every 5 seconds. I swear who ever came up with the script that Jean faints everytime needs to be hanged.
