In the first, Jean as Phoenix literally throws Gladiator out of Earth orbit and not only into space but back into Shi'ar space!

The second, Jean throws Glads around and she does indeed look like the PF beefed up her muscles.

Hey, hey you can't be dissing on the gang like that. Ewing is great and Jean looks fine.


No point in giving guest characters badass costumes that they'll probably only wear once.

I hope not ... For me she sent Cable to home and stayed as a fixed member of Sword

ugh! Now the 90s costume. I really don't get the taste of those writers and artists...stuck in the past and absolutely out of times.

Now that you say this it just sounds pretty random of them to just change costumes.

It is random based off of the writer's preference but...makes some sense in a way for these characters to change costumes as the occasion warrants...like Magneto putting on the red suit to fight the Cotati.

It also reminds me that eventhough the era and circumstances has changed so drastically for mutants, and these characters have developed beyond their initial iterations, these are the same characters I've been reading about and loving since the day I picked up my very first XM comic book.

For me the problem is that her fixed outfit is that of Marvel Girl (where I blame Hickman, not just for the costume). If the X-Men Red costume was the official one, it would be more congruent for her to wear the old costumes nostalgically
