Boo to the idea of Jean and Maddie interacting again.
If anything, have Emma and Maddie fight over him instead and leave Jean out of it.
But hopefully Maddie is being played as an independent character and allowed out of the "scorned ex-wife" box entirely.
IMHO, the more Jean stays away from a romantic relationship with Scott, the better she can stand out as an interesting character.
By the way... what's wrong with adopting "Marvel Woman" as codename?

Agree the less romance the better. It would have been better if she and Scott didnt get back together and they each did their own thing. Maybe they can get back together further down the line, but the jump to them being all lovey dovey again despite us never seeing their talk or agreement is just really unsatisfying. There was just too much history since the last time they were both back together to sweep behind the scenes like that.
Also Marvel Woman sounds lame to be honest. If not Jean Grey, Phoenix works just based on the fact that she has remade herself and come back from death so many times, plus her obvious connection to the force. If there can be multiple Wolverines, Spidermans etc there can be more than one Phoenix.
Or they can come up with any other name that are fitting that dont sound like it was made in the 60s. We really want to get away from that. How about Psyche? Esper? Those are just at the top of my head.

Jean and Scott are great as they are. Keep her away from Logan and keep Scott away from Emma if we need to keep anyone away from anyone, those pairings have never brought anything positive to the other characters.
"We come into this world alone and we leave the same way. The time we spent in between - time spent alive, sharing, learning together... is all that makes life worth living." - Jean Grey
Nothing positive besides chemistry, conflict, intrigue, and a lack of annoying "destined romance" stuff like kids from the future and whatnot.
I like "Psion".
But ultimately of course, they should stop trying to weaken her identity and give her her Phoenix back. Or let her go with Jean Grey. If the Bendis Teen Jean era is still canon (and maybe it isn't considering that version of Jean was exceptionally strong), people from other worlds know and fear that name.

Jean has been around for almost 60 years. Its too late in the game to be giving her a brand new codename and expecting that to stick or catch on. She is fine as just Jean Grey and IMO would be terrible to try and rebrand her
Agreed. Scott is just the man she is with and this relationship most certainly has not defined her this era. Especially as written by Duggan, Jean stands strong as a fascinating character.

Coming up with a name this late in her history is a challenge, especially one that aims at becoming iconic. Marvel Wiman seems too clunky for a lotos people, and Phoenix is not an option for Marvel when the want to make the PF an independent character.
The more I think about it, Cerebra is a good option. It’s a variation of Cerebro, which is as old as the X-Men. It’s also been used poorly in the past and for characters that always seem to disappear, and the only significant use was under Morrison, which Jean used in ways no other telepath has since.
What do you all think?

Doesn’t hurt to try. Heroes can take on new identities.
And the I dont have a problem with her being with Scott per se. It just feels really unearned because they skipped over all the potentially interesting character interactions. They both had a lot to talk about and things to deal with to reach the point they are at now. And we didnt see any of it.
Just call her Phoenix. She has remade herself and come back from the dead so many times the name is fitting. Same with her force connections and Jean wanting to do good with the name. There’s so much meaning behind it.
Multiple people in the marvel universe share the same name. If they wanted to have a strong hero identity, this is it.
Barring Phoenix all the suggestions ive heard from Cerebra to Psion sound way better than generic and clunky Marvel Pronoun.
I just thought about the name "Marvel Girl" and it's functionality in regards to the X-Men ad real people. Imagine her friends:
"...why?"
"Jean, you just turned 30."
"What makes you want a codename all of the sudden?"
"Whatever you like, Jeannie."
Marvel Woman feels like a too generic name and does not evoke "Jean Grey" for me. Phoenix obviously is the one that fits her and her most famous one, but since Marvel has other plans, it's better that she uses her real name, which has become iconic itself.
