Jean Grey / Phoenix Appreciation 2021

I decided to do some quick research regarding sales for series and one-shots that were focused on Jean. Here are some numbers:

It seems Jean Grey debuted at 71,589, Phoenix Resurrection: The Return of Jean Grey at 145,057, Generations: Phoenix & Jean Grey at 59,452, and X-Men: Red at 97,081.

From what I can gather, none of the series, save for annuals and graphic novel formats, dipped under 30,000 units. They were financially successful.

Yup! All of them were financial successes, and Red continually outsold the other X-Men titles if I recall correctly. Jean sells, regardless of if that's as Phoenix or as herself, and Marvel knows it. There's a reason that she was the face of the X-Men for all of 2018. She's an asset, and if Taylor had been allowed to continue to direct the X-Line before Hickman came in I think that there would've been a natural resurgence.

Probably not quite AS successful as Krakoa has been, but still.

Yes that Maddy Pryor appeared years before the real Maddy Pryor/Goblin Queen. And Claremont loves reusing/ repurposing names or ideas.
