I knew that reading Avengers #50 was going to be bad for my mental health but I did it anyway. Now, I regret it. Aside of the Gorilla Phoenix, there's also a kiss between Cavewoman Phoenix Who Looks Just Like Jean and Odin. And a Phoenix girl with guns and a cowboy hat.

Oh I haven't read it but the name already sounds awful, I mean it has AVX on it. Should I read it for the laughs or it is too much "nightmare fuel"?

I speed read the last issue, and only the last issue (It's 4 issues long for some reason), and what I could get was:

Magneto and Hope are Phoenix powered, Hope starts to lose control because why not, Magneto absorbs the rest of the Phoenix, Magneto kills most heroes with Cap's shield (Although there weren't many, the rest probably got killed in the previous issues), Xavier manages to paralyse Magneto with telepathy (Which, considering Magneto has his own resistance to telepathy, and was wearing a helmet if the helmet in 616 was blocking telepathy at that point, and was Phoenix powered, that's kinda bullshit), then Hulk does a fastball special with Wolverine, Wolverine kills Magneto, he explodes, killing everyone else, except Wolverine who gets saved by Jean who's White Phoenix of the Crown, Jean recreates plant life on the planet that was apparently nuked,

end of spoilers and then these last two pages happen:

I was originally just gonna describe them, but hey, pictures are worth a thousand words or somethin'.

So yeah, it's a masterpiece, like every other What if =D.

Anyway, I want to talk about Hope some more. I was reading Messiah Complex recently where it was established that the mutant messiah will save mutantkind, mutants will thrive for a time because of the messiah, and then the messiah kills millions of humans in the “six-second war”, and then everything falls a part for mutantkind.



Hope has saved mutantkind, mutants thrive after conquering death thanks to Hope, and now Hope seems to be getting the spotlight. So that makes me think…are they going to revisit the possibility of the “six-second war”? Is that how the Dawn of X will eventually end?

If they do, I have no doubt they will call it the “Dark Phoenix Saga” since they love re-using titles of classic X-stories (Inferno and Trial of Magneto).
