Rogue Appreciation 2021

Are you serious??? Excalibur is all Betsy all the time, Rogue was less than wallpaper.

But fine let' compare the first 4 issues of X-Men against the first 4 issues of Excalibur.


Excalibur 1) Rogue is ko'd and left lying on a salad bar

Excalibur 2) Rogue is still unconscious and lying on the salad bar

Excalibur 3) Rogue is still unconscious and lying on the salad bar

Excalibur 4) Rogue is still unconscious and lying on the salad bar


So do you see how premature your reaction is, at this point in excalibur Rogue was literally doing Nothing. Give the book some time before you write it off.

I have 2 gripes with what the X-office is doing with Rogue

1) THAT uniform. Retire it already!

2) Her relationship acknowledgement with other character's in general. You don't EVER catch her w/nightcrawler, mystique, iceman, NorthStar, cannonball, or human torch to name a few.

Nightcrawler is in his Temple saving Krakoan souls (I'm overgeneralising)
Mystique is busy bringing back Destiny and plotting the QC's demise
Iceman is Marauding in space
Northstar is investigating Krakoan deaths
Cannonball is in Chandilar with his family
Johnny is...perpetually overheating

...even with the instantaneous transport of the KGs, these are very busy people, where would they all find the time to just sit and have a brew with Rogue?

In my head-canon they (all the friendship connections, really) do cross paths now and again in the GL. And unless told/shown otherwise, those pre-established connections are still strong and present but are just not that significant to the stories to give page and panel-space in their respective books.

I'm talking in general. Its ok to show some of these in books here and there. I'm not saying right now. I get that they are all over the place. I get that from everyone else but not that much for Rogue.

She has so many connections in X-men, mutants and outside but we see none of it.Why the heck didn't we see Captain America met w/ Rogue during the gala? Not even Deadpool!Johnny?!

When do we see Rogue's reaction to Wanda's death?!Instead we get Kaiju fighting filler...

There is so much they should do yet Rogue is treated like a C lister whereas Jean, Storm, Betsy, Emma, Kitty/Kate, Kwannon, Magik, etc. are treated like A listers.

Yea I think that was towards the end of Remender's run. I hardly doubt he remembers her let alone cares lol. She was busy doing some needed justice for some depowered/dead mutants at that time.
Now if it was HE then I can understand why he would mess with her.

I didn't see whether or not he would actually be interacting with the events he sees. It's possible he sees something to do with the X-men team which would include Rogue. Personally, while Duggan's Rogue hasn't wowed me, at least she's been getting lines and small action scenes here and there. I do want her to do something more significant though, it definitely feels a bit... filler-ish for her story but not as bad as being a cheerleader for Betsy in Excalibur IMO.

In other amazing news, TAS Rogue is coming back! Literally, it seems Lenore Zann will be voicing Rogue once again. I wouldn't of minded a fresh X-Men cartoon, but NGL I will never say no to more original 90s TAS. And no other Rogue voice actress could quite match up to Zann.
