Wait. Is Ribic only on for one arc??? Noooooooo!
Namor the Sub-Mariner, Marvel's oldest character, will have been published for 85 years in 2024. So where's my GOOD Namor anniversary ongoing, Marvel?

I don’t think so, it just seems pretty standard practice for Marvel series’ having rotating art teams.

So I just reread the first issue, and here are my thoughts.

It’s slow, and not a lot of action, but there’s depth, and a very real plan to flesh these characters out, without having to take away from the grandeur that is the Eternals. This feels very much like a Hickman comic, with the world building going on, but unlike Hickman, Gillen nails the characterization, especially with Ikaris. I also love how Gillen has integrated the Machine, aka Earth, as a supporting character. She felt like Jarvis in the Marvel films, pre-Vision. There’s a mystery, and while it appears that it might be Thanos, I hope that’s just a red herring. I want to see more of Zuraz as well. Much like Odin, I feel like there’s a wealth of story potential that writers haven’t seemed to have fully grasped just yet. I’m definitely in this for the long haul.

Has the comics retconned Ego into being a Celestial, or is that still something that’s only film related?

Still only film related; Al Ewing went with his traditional origin in the obligatory synergy issue of Ultimates (or Ultimates^2, don't recall).

That’s reassuring. I really hated that change in the films. The Celestials should always be silent, and aloof. Giving them dialogue and a personality is antithetical to what they’re supposed to be.

It's not coming out until 2022. Unless there's 100% capacity at movie theaters, Disney isn't releasing anything big, and I'm sure Black Widow is gonna get pushed back to 2022 too, along with everything else.

Ugh. Oh crap. That’s terrible news.
