When they started talking to us about Eternals, I was thinking 'this would be a great TV series'. Later, I found out that they had tried to adapt it on television. I don't know if that series influenced our movie. It was a different era, with a different team, a totally different project.

writer John Ridley was working on a project for Marvel Television. This has, in theory, been in his hands since practically 2015, when it was first announced. In January 2018 it began to sound that perhaps the project had been canceled, and in June 2018, Jeph Loeb, president of the now practically extinct television division of Marvel, said that all the information about the project was "sooo classified."

Insider Charles Villanueva, a regular collaborator of Charles Murphy, has revealed on Twitter that the project that Ridley was doing was a series about the Eternals.

His message comes in response to a user wondering why the "Helstrom" series continued forward, and not the Ghost Rider series. Villanueva responds with an idea that we already know, coupled with the aforementioned Ridley revelation.

Whenever a project mysteriously disappears from Marvel TV's hands, it has likely been vetoed by Kevin's team, namely John Ridley's Damage Control or Eternals series.


the series would have been canceled because Kevin Feige decided to make a movie of the Eternals for the cinema, or at least that is what is deduced from Villanueva's comment.
