Now, while being interview by Comic Book Herald about the soon to be released History of Science Fiction, Mark Waid has spoken about the marriage of Tony and Emma, revealing that it's the one event that wasn't based on upcoming stories or seeding a specific narrative. "That was the one that was the complete, utter, I'm just gonna throw this wrench in and just see if anything ever comes of it. That was the one that had no connection to anything that just felt like, alright, let's just throw it in to mix things up..."

I'm just glad we got confirmation that it was never planned. But I hate that thanks to the sliding timescale some writer may want to take it up at some point.

The article actually ends with Waid saying that if no writer decides to marry the two of them, he will do it himself at some point.
I wouldn't put much stock on that happening though, they clearly have no plan for now on that front. Also, future events being teased like this are often misleading... Emma and Tony could get "married" in Las Vegas in an oneshot and then just move on.

Just linked the clickbait instead of the poscast since I know most people won't take the time to listen and it did get the important quotes right.

Of course the marriage can still happen at some point, but so can almost anything else in a never-ending shared fictional universe like Marvel's.
