I dunno, I think it can be fun if they're going full farce with it. If the show is being played straight, yeah the art style is wrong, but if they're basically doing underwater Regular Show, it fits. Just depends what they're going for.

I'll hold off until I see it but this art style is clearly trying to target younger audiences (something I hated even as a child) which usually devolves into mindlessness; which I also hate. I think it's the green hair and the crazy eyes on mera that's reeeeeally turning me off.
    re-post from the tv/film forum.
THE SIGNAL (Duke Thomas) is DC's secret shonen protagonist so I made him a fandom wiki

also, check out "The Signal Tape" a Duke Thomas fan project.

    currently following:
    • DC: Red Hood: The Hill
    • Marvel: TBD
    • Manga (Shonen/Seinen): One Piece, My Hero, Dandadan, Jujutsu Kaisen, Kaiju No. 8, Reincarnation of The Veteran Soldier, Oblivion Rouge, ORDEAL, The Breaker: Eternal Force

It'll probably be fun, but I was hoping for more Thundercats 2011 than Thundercats Roar.

Yeah, I admit the same. I'm still in for it because there are lots of shows and comics where I didn't like the art at first but they grew on me.

I hate the CalArts style lol, it just screams “made for kids who think Tide Pods look tasty” . Going to have to pass on this, but it doesn’t sound like it would really be my thing anyway.

I think it's ugly too, but again, I've loved shows and comics that had a style I do not care for. It is what it is, but I do like the idea of an irreverent Aquaman show.

I have contrasting opinions on this animation - it can be great to bring in kids into Aquaman, but I also fear it can make him a joke again.

I think it depends how he actually carries himself. Look at Batman: The Brave and the Bold. That Arthur was a full on parody of the superhero archetype, but he was F U N. He stole the show in every scene. It didn't matter that he was a joke (in a show where everyone was), it mattered that you wanted Batman to have a showdown at a public pool so Arthur would show up and scream like Brian Blessed stepping on a Lego brick.

I get where you're coming from insofar as Starfire hasn't been the same since 2003 when the animated series aired (with people demanding she change entirely to accommodate their love of the show), but Arthur going full farce in the public eye would have infinitely more to do with Momoa coming off like a fratboy than an animated show looking to crib some of that Regular Show/Adventure Time/Rick and Morty vibe.

Even if its intended for kids, the art is awful

No wonder people are driven towards Japanese anime, it is so attractive with great art.

I don't get it. At all. Guess I'm too out touch to be hoping for modern animation to come anywhere even remotely close to this.

It's not just the art. It's the variety. Regular Show/Adventure Time/Steve Universe/Teen Titans sells so now everything has to look like that. I wish WB would allow for some variation instead of trying to fit everything into the same mold.

The only serious action cartoon we are getting is Young Justice and that show hasn't been doing it for me with it's ever bloating cast. I wish we could get another action show.

This is where I'm at with it. I'm also not as adverse to the calarts style as I know a lot of people are.

It's wacky and wild and I've found a few shows with similar style that I enjoy. The kids are definitely gonna eat it up!

I'm also in the minority but I dig the blue-green hair. It's different but a fun little nod to Poseidon.
