The Reign/YJ Steel is very good, I even liked the superman/JL animated shows version of him, but thst tubby version above is a joke, John Henry Irons is a beast (a very smart one), but still a beast of a man out of that armor, not a mess with a big over sized body and a small tiny head

That Steel reminds me of 40k Space Marines and Fallout 4 Brotherhood of Steel (appropriate enough) Power armor suits:

The bulky design makes him stand out in many ways. It's an uncommon build for suits of armor like Iron Man and even Cyborg. It also helps divesify the silhouettes in the Super family by having a guy that looks plus size (sort of) but is actually a normal dude in giant armor. And that particular design still makes him seem heroic and dynamic.

Sure, but IMO Steel should look like John Henry amplified, like Shazam and Billy Batson, not a separate character, but it's a fun take nonetheless. All of the animated designs have a champion of the people vibe.

No I disagree, I like th elatest animated version and some of the fan art versions. I don't always like the way certain artists drew Johns OG version, an updated version will eliminate that problem

they ported over most of the designs for newly introduced characters in season 3 of that show

So Natasha will be getting some long term play as Steel which I admit, I kind of wish it was John going instead since it would be cool to see him helping to liberate Warworld. However I’m cool with it if it means John will be stepping up as a hero in Metropolis while Clark and Natasha are off in space.

Looks like Steel is confirmed to be coming back in S2! Hope he’ll get to suit up frequently. With Painkiller not getting greenlit my pipe dream is that Steel will get a spin-off show out of S&L like how S&L spun out of Supergirl. I would love to see Steel get his own show that drew on stories from the Louise Simonson and Priest runs.
