Was Karkull the explanation for all of the JSA core's youth before the current Starheart, Speed Force, and 9 cat lives explanations were created?

Well look who’s back on TV...in a flashback for Stargirl season 2 but still it’s glad to know that this actor pretty much has the Jay Garrick role on lock.

My guess is Hawkman probably takes charge by default if he’s around. Back in the day, the most popular character was chairman, but left the JSA after getting his own title. Flash got his own title first (“All Flash”), followed almost immediately by GL (“Green Lantern Comics”), hence why Alan was only chairman for one issue. In theory Hawkman would’ve been the next to get his own title, but he never quite made it. (Roy Thomas has speculated this might have been due to wartime paper shortages.) So Carter just stayed Chairman for the rest of the Golden Age, even after Alan and Jay returned.
It’s interesting to speculate about who would have become Chairman had Carter gotten his own title. The Atom, maybe? He was one of the few founding members whose solo adventures lasted through the vast majority of the Golden Age, suggesting he was one of the most popular members.

I'm always down for more of Shipp as Jay, and Stargirl feels like the perfect place for him .
I can't afford to collect all of the originals. I wish DC hadn't pulled the plug on Archives after only 2 Garrick Flash books. There are enough stories to easily fill 10-15 books (2-3 omnibuses), but I just don't know if there are enough people out there that would buy them.
