Funny thing in the comic strips this was changed that Hippoltya had to allow Diana to be in the trials. There were many changes that happened like Diana Prince was retcon out and how Diana meet Etta Candy

That was unfortunate (but I like to think on some level Hippolyta was aware) that's why Perez gave the contestants masked armor which made Hippolyta not knowing much more believable.

However I wouldn't put it past Hippolyta to pretend to be surprised, but at least she's not quite as manipulative and antagonistic as Odin is to Thor. Though he's only slightly worse. With the events of Young Diana Hippolyta gets thrown under the bus yet again, the raven haired version is almost catching up with the blonde in terms of bad deeds.

Yea I wish writers stopped making them seem like they can't just make their own tech. That's why I liked about Golden age and Earth One. A lot of their tech can have anicent greek designs to them but they shouldn't be stuck in time. I mean with the doom gate wouldn't they need to be learning to make stronger weapons also?

Agreed, Diana shouldnt be the first champion to have left the Island.

The one good thing Titans (show) show did was have Amazons secretly infiltrate Mans World to keep up with what was happening in it and once their time was up they were required to return to the Island.

- Themyscira exists in another dimension, the portal to that dimension takes the form of a ancient tree. Ares lives in the tree, locked between Earth and Themyscira in a kind of limbo prison.

- I’d say she’s not too far off from the Perez/Jimenez era Hippolyta.

Well, she banged Zeus for one unfortunately for both her, Diana, and us.

There's other stuff also like she wasn't Wonder Woman in WW2 with the JSA, Antiope didn't leave to go found the Bana, and other stuff like that. Characterization wise, she's about the same as Hippolyta was as established by Perez.

In Rebirth she was established as the 'Tenth Queen' of the Amazons. Whereas in the Post Crisis era she was the first and only one.
