Is it just me or there a lot of references lately to the Black Canary band days, mainly in other characters wearing her t-shirt. I’ve seen Nightwing on twitter by Tom Taylor and Bolt was wearing it today in Teen Titans Academy.

It wouldnt make sense if Dinah marries Larry and takes his last name and then gives her daughter her last name. Unless Larry is also a Lance.

I'm not feeling the band thing but DC has decided that that's Dinah's thing now. I'm also a sucker for shared universe references and easter eggs so I like seeing Dick wearing a poster of Dinah's concert and stuff.

You got it mixed up. Her name is Dinah Drake and she married Larry Lance and their daughter is Dinah Laurel Lance.

And don't forget, the name confusion is in part because the character was actually just one person from 1947-1983, then we suddenly had the (then) current Black Canary being the daughter of the original version (but previously with ALL the memories of her mother and none of her own before then).

It would have been awkward to suddenly make the daughter "Lucy" or "Raquel" (or whatever) after having believed she was her mother all that time.

I know. I think BC actually benefited from COIE since they could do a clean 'passing down the mantle from mother to daughter' without any of the weirdness.
