    They certainly could have been inspired by the Lensmen, but there's no proof of that - therefore the "He ripped off the Lensmen" statement is nothing but here say.

    No more so than Batman having too many parallels with his precursor Zorro. The human mind is an association engine, so it can't come up with new elements, just different compositions. They admitted to knowing about the Lensmen, which pre-dated their property. They didn't have to read the books to know what they were about.

    I don't think it really matters at the end of the day when the GL's are basically just their own thing at this point.
