If Amaya Jiwe was ever inserted into the comics, how would you all tie her into Vixen's mythos?

As Mari's grandmother. We have very little information on Mari's family and no idea who was the last holder of the totem was before Vixen. Writers have a lots of space to create a amazing back story o Mari's family.

I always pictured Vixen shooting explosions from her hands like Bakugo if she ever channeled a bombardier beetle.

Another ability Vixen could have is perceiving time which all small animals have.

She could navigate by channeling the power of the dung beetle. Sense earthquakes using centipedes ability. View infrared and ultra violet using the ability of a peacock mantis shrimp. Lots of possibilities for combat and non-combative usage of her powers.

unfortunately, the limits of most writers creativity is "regenerate like a salamander" or "survivable like a tardigrade" before they start Frankensteining grabbag powers like "firefly plus eel plus taper fish makes a ssj2 kamehameha laser". I really hope whenever they start investing in Vixen again that they give it to someone with a deep knowledge of fascinating animals and their abilities.

Yeah, she's got absolute scads of interesting and useful potential powers, and it feels like some writers just invent whatever crap they want and come up with some lame 'oh, it's the proportional strength of X' or the even lazier 'some alien animal I just made up can do this!'

The strength of a single blue whale is nothing to sneeze at! Electric eel shocks, bombardier beetle blasts, bat sonar, bloodhound tracking, mantis shrimp punches, falcon flight, hummingbird reactions, spider webs, spitting cobra venom, imitate sounds like a lyrebird, camouflage like a chameleon, it just goes on and on.

For those who read manga and manhua, there's a new series called Jungle Juice where people become part insects. It's a shonen for what it's worth but the premise is interesting. You can read the first 4 Oficial chapters free on Webtoon.


I'm not saying DC should adopt this exact approach for Vixen but as others have said her powerset has way more depth to it than we generally get to see.

I think it'd be good and it's comics so you make it look cool. Have her throw an acid punch or something. It's not like the comics make all her abilities come out anatomicaly correct to the specific animal. It's not like Spider-Man shoots webs out of his butt.

Exactly! She doesn't have to grow wings to fly, she doesn't have to turn into a cheetah to run like one, she doesn't have to grow physical gills or turn into an aquadynamic shape with pebbly skin to swim like a swordfish, so she shouldn't need to do more than point or hiss at someone to unleash skunk musk or bombardier beetle gas or hot termite glue or spitting cobra venom or whatever at them.

Not to go all nerd on you but real life spider's produce webs out of their stomachs.

One thing I always wanted to see Vixen do in a fight, was use the wing speed of humming bird (70 flaps per second) or a midge (1045 flaps per second).

Think about it, using the wing speed of midge combined with strength of Rhinoceros beetle (around 80 tons) would be devastating in a fight.
