Eh we do not know. Paradoxically high quality of screens had made certain things looking less cool looking thatn they were once time. And stretchingn powers had never looked that good in love action honestly(hey what happened to that stretch Armstrong movie by the way?)
Add budget constraints, hard to marketing issues, and other possible technical difficulties and you see that for a secondary ,albeit beloved, character they opted for an alternative.

She appears to have brown skin and blue hair under the disguise. Google is telling me the name is somewhere between arabic and hindi in origin. Tie in the previous synopsis about bollywood and perhaps kamala slipped into alt universe India and brought someone over. An OC to add to the cast

There are new rumors as to the villains/nature of Kamala's powers in the new show.

I know Feige wants to get as far from Inhumans as possible (Marvel literally has a ban from setting things in Hawaii because the Inhumans show was) but to dig up spoilers:

Plus one of the Eternals writers said that Hawaii is off limits for the MCU specifically because the Inhumans show was set there. Wonder if that means Kamala's origin is getting a comic retcon as well if that's how far they're willing to go.

That's a deep cut and a huge change to her character. But it's easier to reconcile for the comics and more interesting than connecting her to Carol. One of Kamala's strengths is that she isn't too dependent on Carol for stories. It's not perfect but she's better than the other Champions in that regard.

If it's true alteast we know what the next miniseries could be. .
