Champions Appreciation 2021

The Champions have finally solidified into the classic 5-man teen hero unit:

Ms. Marvel - Robin

Spider-Man - Beast Boy

Nova - Starfire

Viv - Raven

Ironheart - Cyborg

I can see those connections. Ms. Marvel and Robin are both the leaders, Spider-Man and Beast Boy both have animal-based powers and smart mouths, Nova and Starfire both have the space connection (Nova getting his powers from an alien artifact and Starfire being an alien), Viv and Raven both have eerie powers along with an aloof and emotionally guarded exterior compensating for how much inner turmoil they really feel, and Ironheart and Cyborg are both technological geniuses who've heavily integrated said technology into their heroics (Ironheart as an armor, Cyborg as his actual body).

I don't think Marvel has much in the way of young magic users...the only one that comes to mind is Andrea Benton (formerly used the Mania symbiote now has the Scream symbiote). If it was not for my dislike of the preponderance of symbiotes out there and she was made strictly magic/hellfire user then I would like to see her on the team.

YA at least has Wiccan and Kid Loki. But yeah, most younger versions of characters aren't magical.

Amka's the closest, but she's not actually magical either. Her powers are of divine origin but are essentially the same as Beast Boy's. She actually had to prey to her deity to obtain the ability to send the team to Weirdworld.

I think the closest thing to a Doctor Strange legacy in the present day (i.e. not 2099) is Emily Bright, the main character of Strange Academy. Wiccan is the only major teen magic character, he's Scarlet Witch's legacy. Andi Benton is Daimon Hellstrom's as well as Venom's, but they mainly focus on the symbiote side.
