Wow, I hadn't heard about any of this. What happened here?

How did Lyta even exist in the first place post-Crisis?

Pat Dugan only had his belt, which Courtney inherited, because of the fact Sylvester was dead. His death is part of Courtney's origin story.

They do. Jade and Obsidian will appear in the Infinite Frontier one-shot with their father Green Lantern. And I believe we saw a few in Doomsday Clock?

The universe made changes to her origin so that she was the daughter of someone who wasn't Earth-2 Wonder Woman.

She was the daughter of Fury/Helena Kosmatos who was created as the stand in for the golden age WW. Also Joan Dale/Miss America had some involvement in raising her.

Al Rothstein and Jade were in Doomsday Clock, and weirdly enough, Brainwave Jr. was in the main universe as one of the telepaths Amanda Waller kidnapped. I have no idea how that works, though, and it was probably just an easter egg by the artist.

That's an interesting idea. If they're refugees from an alternative timeline, you get to gloss over all that messy stuff about which JSA and when, without having to eliminate it.

DC Comics are loaded with characters who were dead, then they're not. I can list some if you need any examples.

Someone at Vergito -- I'm assuming the woman who started that line -- got pissy when Geoff brought back Lyta and Hector in JSA. She felt they were Vertigo properties. Note that Geoff didn't write the story in which Lyta and Hec 'died'. I believe that was by protest. Now, Vertigo doesn't even exist! It was a crappy decision -- probably on Levtiz's part. He was too wimpy to stand up to the Superman editors when they did a hatchet job on Legion by not allowing them to use Superboy -- even in its history!

Wow, that was extremely petty and low.

He only wrote one of the last ten issues of that JSA volume (the one he did write was a Stargirl focus), but I don't think it was protest - he was busy on Infinite Crisis and resumed JSA when it relaunched a few months later.

I can't swear to it, but I'm fairly certain that I read he wasn't happy about the decision to pull them from JSA. That's why Keith Champagne, the inker, wrote that issue. He obviously wasn't building up their story just to end it that way.

That is really a nice view of the team. If we never saw them again as part of that team was because most of them became members of the JSA. The survivors, I mean.

Don't forget than between the original team and the Steel team, there was the Lexcorp founded team from the Everyman project, who had the merit of be the first version of the team in an animated series.

I liked the Lexcorp funded team and I wouldn't mind if they make a return.

Post Death Metal, i don't know how it works, but post Doomsday Clock, the real multiverse continued to exist, including the original Earth Two.

It's a pity none of this was built upon. With the original Earths ( plus new ones like post Crsis, nu52, Rebirth), DC could have created " houses" of comics that featured different Earths, such as

    Earth Two: Infinity Inc
    : Justice Society
: All Star Squadron ( set during WWII)

Earth 1985 ( formerly Earth One)
    : Justice League of America
    : New Teen Titans

Etc.... various titkes under various banners representing various Earths....
