Really enjoyed the short lived series on Fox with Mark Valley.
AKA FlashFreak
Favorite Characters:
DC: The Flash (Jay & Wally), Starman- Jack Knight, Stargirl, & Shazam!.
MARVEL: Daredevil, Spider-Man (Peter Parker), & Doctor Strange.
Current Pulls: Not a thing!
I first met the HUMAN TARGET as a backup feature in the dollar size DETECTIVE COMICS.
Aparo cover to Detective Comics #493.
Detective493.jpg
cover to Human Target Special #1 (November 1991), when Rick Springfield would be starring in an ABC television series based on the character.
The Mark Valley series was okay but it wasn’t really the Human Target.
There was a shot lived Human Target series starring Rick Springfield that was closer to the actual comic version. And pretty entertaining.
Reactions in order:
1) Hey, Christopher Chance! I love that character!
2) Ooh, those fists all belong to the JLI! Bitchin'!
3) Is that last one... G'Nort? I'm all in, baby!
4) Tom... King? Tom... freakin'... King?
Arrrrrrrrrrrrgh!
This is either going to be spectacularly good (as in "I had no idea Tom King had this in him" good) or very, very bad.
If Christopher Chance is a burned out spy with PTSD* I will chuckle so mordantly that Darkseid will be impressed.
* Yes, I'm aware that that's how the last couple of Vertigo takes on the character have gone.
I would love to see the 2nd season of his show. But it says unavailable
^So much this.
On average, I think King does good work with "less established" characters.
That said, I hope he doesn't "Tom King it" and make it have the same underlying tones all his other work has. Even though these were good stories, I'd like him to step out of the box a bit.
On the character, I always did like the concept and the tv show. Also I liked a couple of volumes of the series. More so the earlier ones which had more linear storylines.
*I know I know. King and linear storytelling don't always go hand in hand.
All in all, I'm a lil' excited.
