I have a feeling that when Psylocke is finally introduced in the MCU that's exactly the way they'll go down = Betsy Braddock, bi-racial British lady with Asian mum. Easy peasy.

She played an alien with blue makeup. If Marvel loved her, they could have brought her on to play another unrelated role. Oh wait, they did..... Being Minn-erva didnt prevent her rom being Psylocke. Playing Sersi however will. They aren likely to bring her on for a 3rd role

No. Keep Betsy white and just introduce Kwannon. There’s no need to recreate every character and then confuse even more casual readers. They’re not going to change her in the books to biracial. Just give Betsy the butterfly and Kwannon the psi-knife. They can figure out a way to have them be frenemies.

I don't think that kwannon is important enough to introduce into the MCU, so they could do either with Betsy and be fine...

Kwannon isnt, but Psylocke is. Lets be real, in almost all of Psylocke's appearance in outside media from cartoons, games to movies, Betsy Braddock doesnt really factor. Her backstory, British roots and non-superhero persona rarely ever come into play. With the redefinition of the character in the comics, I do believe going forward that if we do see Psylocke onscreen, it will be based off Kwannon and Betsy will be reserved as a seperate character

Yeah at this point you can’t afford to not put Kwannon in. I wouldn’t mind some sort of “body swappish” (but not body swappish at the same time) story where Betsy passes on the name Psylocke to Kwannon. It covers them both being manipulated against their wills and has them bonded, but being separate fully realized characters. It could be Betsy as Psylocke is undercover, Kwannon is setup to believe Betsy is her enemy, manipulation hijinx occur, they turn around beat asses and Betsy gives Psylocke name to Kwannon and Betsy takes on another name..

you understand making betsy asian in the movies is validating and cementing that racist storyline they finally fixed, it's THE most conterproductive option EVER as it basically says "yeah this is totaly fine" when it wasn't.

Besides the name Braddock was already name droped, psylocke doesnt need to be betsy (in fact it may not even need to be kwannon), and betsy's "Jedi X-men Fairy Princess" is pure disney gold, so.
And the mcu is mostly garbage so whatever we get it won't be good

Sales wise Betsy in the Asian body didn't hurt much if anything, unless the movie focused a lot on Betsy Kwannon would not even be needed really, but remember now Psylocke is Kwannon and Kwannon is Psylocke...

Exactly. She gets asked point blank in an interview if Captain Avalon has different powers than Captain Britain, and the answer is a solid 'Maybe...'
How long ago was Captain Avalon introduced? And we don't know jack about what makes him Captain Avalon.

To be fair (and we know I am no fan of her writing), Captain Avalon was really only introduced at the start of X of Swords issue of Excalibur. And his challenge was a race and some silly ones as well.

His powers should be whatever comes with choosing the Sword of Might. She could have at least said that much.

Betsy’s powers as CB should have been explained from the point she became CB. Weren’t Brian’s power magical in nature and were based on his emotions in the CB and MI:13 series? Was that all done away with after SW? If so then they all need definite power and abilities to be defined.

If they introduce Psylocke in the MCU id rather her be Kwannon now.

Id rather have Betsy be in a film with Captain Britain and other British characters.

They just need to make her a british telepath/telekinetic h2h combatant like Black Widow is for the Avengers.

Plus she'll get more development that way. She won't be put aside like she would be if Jean and Emma are around.

That's not validating anything, they'd be remaking the character into something which isn't problematic - hiring Asian actors don't make their characters Yellow Face. That's the opposite. This would improve diversity, making Betsy Asian or half-Asian, like Olivia Munn, would be an improvement rather than adding another white character to the X-men.

Besides the name Braddock was already name droped, psylocke doesnt need to be betsy (in fact it may not even need to be kwannon), and betsy's "Jedi X-men Fairy Princess" is pure disney gold, so.

Betsy's a good character who's never had a good version in live action. Why is the MCU garbage? Jedi X-men Fairly Princess, what? LOL It's not like the comics just recently added her family to the Otherworld connections, her brother's Captain Britain - she originally was a normal human from his supporting cast. And it's comics, that was bound to be a thread pulled one way or another.

How is it validating it if it's a different version of the character? Like it or not, being an Asian ninja is a huge part of Betsy's character. By making her biracial they can keep both her British and Japanese roots without it being problematic.

Are you kidding me? Being Psylocke is 99% of Betsy's comic book history. Take that away and what's left?

And the mcu is mostly garbage so whatever we get it won't be good
Kinda agree with this though, lol
