I agree with everything you say. While I lie just a little to the side on not having the hole (what a weird thing for me to say) I still won't complain about it being there, at least if it's done in more tasteful manner. Like ok, cleavage, but cmon, don't need to go to any extreme in order to prove a point. Like I said, it's still a uniform, not casual clothing.

Movies are much cheaper to make than they used to be. Anyway I'm tired of the same old. They did Batwoman after all, I didn't know about Batwoman before they made a television show about her, before that show debuted, I knew about the Batman trio which was Batman, Robin, and Batgirl. This is probably because of the Batman television show and the Batman movies that followed. Batgirl was a better known figure than Batwoman, so logically, they should have made a show about Batgirl by your reasoning, not Batwoman. I would argue that Powergirl is probably the Superman analog to Batwoman, there is a Superwoman, but she is often a villain.

I can't tell by your name, or by reading text, but let me guess, are you a woman? Alpha is just a letter in the Greek alphabet after all, so I don't know. I don't object to the cleavage, but I see how a woman might. I would venture that the artist that originally drew her was male, so he drew what he liked to see. You are probably not going to see a superhero that is fat, out of shape or ugly looking, unless it is a parody, such as the characters Fatman, Stuporman, and Blunderwoman.

I mean, I'm a cisgendered man who is definitely attracted to women. And I watch porn, but that doesn't mean that I think it's appropriate to draw a hole in the middle of a female uniform in an action story.

A big obstacle to a Power Girl movie is that her origin will be confusing to a general audience. She's Supergirl but not Supergirl.

I think that's more of an issue with execs at WB and DC than with Power Girl's actual fans.

Oh sure, it’s absolutely not an issue with PG’s fans.
It makes her a harder sell to a general audience though.

I had to look up the word "cisgendered" to find out what it means, it is not a part of my vocabulary, I'm just a man, no qualifiers necessary. As for Powergirl, she is just a drawing, there isn't a real woman or girl there to exploit, she won't mind if you stare at her breasts because she is not a real person, she is a fictional character in a comic book. Comic book characters are drawn to be looked at, that is how comic book artists earn their living. Might as well make Powergirl look pretty, no reason not to, she doesn't have to sacrifice to obtain that figure, she only needs someone to draw her that way.

I mean, you seem to want to have this discussion so I'll go there with you. Imagine that Superman was dressed like Borat. I think gay men and heterosexual women would very much enjoy seeing Henry Cavill dressed like that. Does it mean that it makes sense for his character? Like yess, he probably has a big dong. But why would he choose a uniform that looks like that Or instead imagine Superman having these holes in his pants

Women don't eliminate with their breasts. Men have breasts too, though usually not as big as women have them. I've seen naked breasts, they're not a big deal, they just look different from men's breasts. A lot of women's clothes show part of their breasts, usually the nipples are covered up, as if men did not have nipples. Men and women look different, women have wider hips and rounded breasts than men, that is what makes them attractive to men. Are we supposed to pretend men and women look the same? I would say that any woman that wears an outfit like what Powergirl has, wants to show off her breasts, and likely wants some attention from some men.

Have you ever seen a police woman, or a congresswoman, or a female athlete wear something with a hole in their chest? Women wear those clothes as sensual clothing. Not necessarily to please men, but certainly to feel attractive for themselves. But they don't wear that when they have an authority status, and I think it makes sense. Namor only wears a speedo because he is a fuckboy. He is constantly throwing himself at women so it's fine for him to wear a deliberately sexual outifit. But Power Girl isn't a particularly sexual woman, she just has a big chest. She isn't trying to show off her sexuality for herself or for anybody else, and in terms of uniform, it makes no sense. It has nothing to do with her being attractive or not. I have no idea why you are obssessed with her having a hole in the chest.

I don't think the concept of the multiverse is going to be too difficult for a general audience to comprehend.

I came to this thread expecting to see some fun movie plots, instead I got an in-depth discussion about PG's sexuality.

PG's comic origin is convoluted, but there's no reason why they wouldn't simplify things for the movies.

I wouldn't say a woman exposing her breasts is the same as a man exposing his penis. Some women like to breast feed their babies, and insisting that they have to cover their breasts all the time makes that difficult. Why not just accept that men and women are different? Why do women have to try and look like men in order to be in a position of authority? Why does everything have to go by the male standard? Such as if a woman is to be taken seriously, she has to act like a man and hide her feminine parts? Most men don't put on fake breasts to be taken seriously, why do women have to hide theirs? There are cultures where women exposing their breasts and going shirtless is not a big deal, so why do you make it a big deal? Why can't you live with the physical differences between men and women, and why do you suppose it is a man's world and assume that women have to masculate themselves to be in a position of authority?

I guess I'm a terrible person for wanting comic book women to be pretty looking and being attracted to them. I accept who I am and that I am attracted to women as nature intended me to be. I don't fight my nature and feel guilty for being born as some would seem to expect of me.
