    Haven't seen it, so I can't comment.

On the idea of an HBO Max show...I kind of like that. My only concern...well, one of them...is that they'd be tempted to make her dark, have her kill, have her whine and cry, or otherwise change her character because they want to be edgy. Or their definition of edgy.

But long form storytelling done right allows for a lot more thorough exploration of character than a movie, and of course just give a lot more time to watch the character, so there's a lot to like.

Seems like her costume is arranged to use them as a distraction device for males, maybe she can get in one extra punch at her enemies if they are staring at her breasts, Ibdon't know, you tell me. I just think, whoever originally drew her liked women with large breasts.
I forgot who the original artist as but the reason for the large breasts is as a gag. He slowly made them bigger and bigger in each appearance to see when his editors would tell him to stop. He wasn't Frank Cho. Other artists have done as you've said because they needed a reason to keep her being walking fan service because that brings in the readers. What's irritating is that Karen's a fascinating character but writers rarely give her a chance to reach her potential rather have just focusing on her being the resident hot chick. Even when she leads the team on paper, like the Justice Society. And you'd need to be specific about which Supergirl she is like, because there are many including versions of the same character. Post-crisis Kara isn't Pre-Crisis Kara.

I'd like to know as much as I can before I plunk the money to buy a comic book, and I don't buy every comic book off the shelf, but what can you tell me about her besides criticizing my ignorance?

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_Girl
She's an alternate reality version of Supergirl who grew up differently than the main universe version. She's more confident and outspoken.

I'm not criticizing your lack of knowledge. I'm puzzled by you wanting a solo movie for her, considering all the other characters that haven't had one, and you don't even know anything about the character. Usually people want movies about characters they love.

    The artist was Wally Wood.

When I consider the Witchblade comic and then who was cast in the television series, I have to say I think it's possible to get away from the silicon image, especially since going live action television or movies is usually what draws attention to a character for most people. In other words, since this would be Powergirl's first live action appearance, whoever plays her will set the standard for what she looks like. There have been some cosplay women at conventions that definitely fit the "larger" image. But can any of them act?

I'm sure they can. The Image of Supergirl you have reminds me of Britanny Spears.

If you like to know as much as you can and all you've gleaned is "she's Supergirl with huge breasts" than you're not seeking out information. You're seeking out fan art. If you want to learn more about her character, there are lots of sources. Wikis are commonly referred to, but also the appreciation threads here. I know because I participate in them all the time and a lot of us love that character and express why all the time.

Which brings up an interesting dilemma. Karen is not just a T&A character; she's got depth and nuance and a rich characterization. But a part of all that is indeed exploring how she deals with the objectification and sexualization that comes with being who she is. Is that something to skip over in a theoretical live action performance? You can ignore all of that and the majority of Karen's character and life experience is still there, but it *does* remove one of her character's more interesting conversations. Or do you accept that this is part of her life and try to capture the dueling thematics of body positivity and objectification, running the risk of the entire production being written off as either male gaze fantasy or femnazi-ism?

I mean, the casting call would be hilarious, if nothing else; Looking for white female, 20-28, to play empowered alien businesswoman/warrior/refugee exasperated by earthlings' response to her large bust. Minimum c-cup required.

Alternatively, you could cast a heavier set woman as Karen; that keeps the impressive cleavage and body positive elements without making it (at a distance) seem so porn-y. But if you do that, you're also saying that body positivity is only for fat people, and that the struggle women like Karen deal with doesn't matter because they're pretty.

By the pictures I've seen of Karen, she doesn't look fat, she just has big boobs. Also the male gaze shouldn't bother her too much, I think superheros are uncommon, so she'll get alot of people looking at her. Also the way she dresses tends to draw attention, as most people don't dress that way. One thing she could do is disguise herself as a nun, that would solve the problem, and she could pretend to be the flying nun.

Also some of those male gazes she wants, some people touching her boobs, she might not mind. Those that she does mind won't try that twice, she'll see to that!

What he's saying is that Karen's the argument for body positivity applying to everyone, not just the unconventionally attractive. Karen's someone who puts up with sexual harassment because she's beautiful but she doesn't stop that from her being proud of herself-- nobody should ever feel wrong in their own skin. She's not rude or vain about it, but she likes how she looks. The problem is that usually with body positivity, the discussion is to highlight unconventional beauty or qualities usually looked down on (weight is an example of this) so having a conventionally attractive woman be a spokesperson for it will feel hollow to some; "oh how sad for you, being beautiful and bulletproof." Doesn't change that she gets treated like a sex object, some people will just roll their eyes anyway. Minor sidebar, but her being named "Karen" probably wouldn't help her right now either.

Think about Superman for a second. Everyone says "how hard is it to be nice when everything is easy for and nobody can hurt you" to diminish that he actually just is a good, decent person.

Honestly, though, that you think a woman getting her breasts touched by some male gazey sons of bitches wouldn't mind the handsy behavior makes me question if you've ever actually been with a woman. Karen promptly puts people in their place for putting their hands on her. Moreover, most women dress for themselves-- they're not dressing in revealing clothing to get your attention-- they don't care. They're dressing the way they do for the same reasons we men dress the way we do-- she likes the way she look in said clothing. She likes how she looks, and if guys are going to be stupid about it, all that does is show to her which males haven't become men and aren't worth her time. Yes, we dress to impress specific people or if we're genuinely looking to find someone-- PG isn't going to a nightclub or bar. She's just doing what she likes. It's 0% about what other people think.

Dude, your takes on PG sound more and more like you're trying to craft a story around a fetish or something.

I read some of her solo by Palmiotti, Cray and Conner and I could see them using that tone for a movie.

I think DC Superhero Girls, the animated series and shorts knocked it out of the park with the character. If they can make a Harley Quinn movie and a Stargirl series why not?
