Avengers Mech Strike has Hulk instead of She-Hulk, plus Black Widow and Spider-Man instead of Ghost Rider and Blade. I think they are a better lineup than what we have in the main book.

Yes, I think there are good reasons for doing one team only -- the Avengers just aren't popular enough in comics to support a whole line, plus the whole point of the Avengers is that they're a team with exclusive membership.

But the whole point of the Avengers is that characters come and go all the time, and that they're a mix of stars and B-listers. Without that, they're just Marvel Justice League, and that's what Marvel has decided they should be. What a waste.

I mean, having one main Avengers team is pretty standard, it all comes down to how the writer handles the rotating roster.

Kind of miss the Busiek days in that respect.

Well, for the last two years of the run they abandoned the traditional seven-person Avengers lineup and switched to having a huge team that operates internationally. Sort of anticipating the Hickman run in that respect.

I think a smaller lineup works better because so much of the fun is seeing who goes out to make room for someone new, and it's harder to do soap opera/personal stories with a big lineup. But again, it only works if characters are free to leave and come back and they don't have to stick with all the same people for years.

I think at most an Avengers team should have eight members that organically develops and shifts over time. But that's just me.

The Avengers should not have one book with a static cast. There are a million Avengers. There should be new ones and old ones and popular ones and obscure ones. The current method has just cemented their irrelevancy.

I think the team roster should remain stable to some extent, and no team roster can ever service what everyone wants from the team, give or take a few members coming and going after a few arcs.

    4 books

    East
    West
    Secret
    Young

Different line up in each book with 2-3 'big names' and fill out the roster with their old members and in some cases new members. For example..if Justice is on a team then I want Ultra Girl joins as well. Or with YA...3-4 OG members and 4-5 new members/characters.

Yes...I will continue to beat that dead horse...

There's two active Avengers books but no one reads Illyana and her Amazing Friends.

Is this that Secret Avengers book? I thought it was just a covert "Conan Team-Up" team-up book.

Also, I seem to remember Aaron writing a Wolverine/Spider-Man team-up series a while ago. How was that?

They put out a handbook I think where they confirmed that Savage Avengers isn't an official Avengers team

That's within the context of 616. Conan, Illyana, Elektra, etc. don't have Avengers membership.

100% agree with you, when the Avengers included urban characters like Luke Cage and Iron Fist on the roster meh, seriously. Not every random character that appears in the pages of the Avengers title has to be offered membership.
I am a Marvel fan preferably cosmic storylines, especially Thanos or Dark Phoenix related, when both the Avengers and the X-Men are involved count me in, loved the original Uncanny Avengers series.
Not a fan of any of the new characters.

Is this another reason why we don't see Hawkeye a lot these days other than Hawkeye Freefall ?
