For the record, I want that movie to be awesome. I have every interest in seeing it succeed, but DC live action is such a mixed bag I have learned to be cautious.

I don't set the bar that low for every adaptation.

It depends on what information we get for each project. So far, Black Adam sounds good and not a total dumpster fire.

I think he was cast after MoS. So around 2013 or 2014-ish.

Well there is only one definitive version

I think it would be best to start with Dr Fate/Kent Nelson. Establish what makes Dr. Fate tick. Then pass the mantle on to someone else. There has been a lot of passing the torch stories lately so it's easy to get lost in the shuffle and nearly every Dr Fate story has either been about passing the mantle or they have no idea what to do with him. Go back to the Walt Simonson/Martin Pasko mini and build from there.

When Fate passes the mantle, it can't be to just anyone. It would have to be to someone unique. My pick would be either Hector Hall or the Eric/Linda Strauss duo.
