I like this Queen Bee redesign:
I see the “B” in Queen Bee stands for bondage.
She's had that look for a while now. It's just that she is usually referred to as H.I.V.E Queen not Queen Bee. She is connected to Braniac, the other one is a bee alien. (And the one from the Young Justice cartoon is someone else entirely.)
Reading List (Super behind but reading them nonetheless):
DC: Currently figuring that out
Marvel: Read above
Image: Killadelphia, Nightmare Blog
Other: The Antagonist, Something is Killing the Children, Avatar: TLAB
Manga: My Hero Academia, MHA: Vigilanties, Soul Eater: the Perfect Edition, Berserk, Hunter X Hunter, Witch Hat Atelier, Kaiju No. 8
It's complicated? Pre-Flashpoint they were one and the same. The alien Queen Bee took over H.I.V.E later on. For whatever reason that's not what happened in the New52, where the H.I.V.E version spawned the organisation or it spawned her. They both possess mind control powers but the alien one/Zazzala has more bee related abilities (like a stinger) while this one has more general psionic powers.
Tbh, I wouldn't know the blond version either if I hadn't seen her on a cover somewhere years ago. She probably stuck with me because her design kinda reminds me of Magik's.
Anybody read the latest Amy Chu and Maria Laura Sanapo two-parter?
I thought it was a sweet. Really enjoyed the homage to the Golden Age era with the narrative and artistic transition. Cute story that has Diana mostly off-panel but always relevant and when she does return in the present day, she looks so regal. I love stories that show Diana as an agent of change and a teacher, so seeing Grannie throw down with her tiara and lasso was life haha.
This week's issue is one of the better of the two-parter stories so far imo. Artwork was also pretty good too.
Giganta, Dr. Poison (classic design), Silver Swan (Vanessa), and Blue Snowman also appeared as Queen Bee's generals.
Luckily, the latest issue was a quick and enjoyable read. I'm shocked how much I liked it. Queen Bee taking over the Amazons and having them attack DC was wonderful, a great trap, and a great plan. It was also great to see the physical threat Silver Swan and Giganta posed to Wonder Woman. For once, Giganta wasn't KO'd in one hit.
Question for people reading Sensational Wonder Woman. I know a few people on here were upset that this isn't in-continuity, but I'm amazed at how much Wonder Woman mythos they've brought into these books, and we're only on book 11. In this one issue, we got Artemis, Hippolyta, 4 classic villains, the invisible jet, the lasso being shown as both a great offensive tool and its truth-telling abilities. These books have also given us Myndi Meyer, Dr. Psycho, and Cassie. Lastly, Diana is never sidelined in these books for anyone's pet character.
Are people still upset that the books aren't in-continuity even though it's doing a pretty spectacular job showing Wonder Woman and her world?
Lastly, I know I say this a lot, but I really need them to update Blue Snowman's design. I liked the one from a few issues ago when they tried to control the weather. Blue Snowman just looks out of place with the more modernised villains and a little too silly for modern comic sensibilities.
I’m not particularly bothered by if the series is in-continuity or not, I guess the only thing so far here that would make me want it in continuity would be so we could get Myndi back.
