Default Zack Snyder's Original Concept for Wonder Woman

Not sure if this was posted elsewhere, but oof . . .

    https://www.superherohype.com/movies...in-crimean-war

Zack seems like a nice guy, but his ultra violent streak is not the right fit for these movies. Even concept art of Diana posing with severed heads is very troubling. I may not like what Patty did with WW84 and some of her choices in the first movie, but it's clear she steered this ship in the right direction. And by right direction, I mean towards the spirit of the character.

I hope Zack's Snyder cut is successful and gives people what they want (I am extremely doubtful it will be much of an improvement over the theatrical release), but for people hoping he might take the helm of the DCEU, we may want to look elsewhere.

Wonder Woman was extremely lucky not to be directed by Snyder.

And I thought Injustice was as bad as it could get for mainstream versions of Diana.

Zack's version would have sent the wrong message. It sounds like she was based off of Azzarello's dark New 52 Wonder Woman. Diana isn't the type to kill and then carry around a bunch of severed heads like trophies.
Currently(or soon to be) Reading: Alan Scott: Green Lantern, Batman/Superman: World's Finest, Fire & Ice: Welcome to Smallville, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Jay Garrick: The Flash, Justice Society of America, Power Girl, Superman, Shazam, Titans, Wesley Dodds: Sandman, Wonder Woman, & World's Finest: Teen Titans.

Even Azzarello's Diana, raised by crappy Amazons, didn't seem like she would carry around severed heads.

Some of the other Amazons in that run would though.

Look at Snyders version of Superman and Batman. The guy likes DARK and moody. He totally is more into Warrior Princess then anything else. Not good enough for her first big screen debut. Maybe a couple reboots down the road.

He has ZERO understanding of these iconic DC superheroes and why they work. Wonder Woman as a blood-thirsty killer that keeps the decapitated heads of her enemies as trophies is as Hack Snyder as you get. Thank Athena that Snyder is not in charge of the DCEU anymore.

she seemed one of those Isis terrorists who beheaded people and carried their heads as trophies, instead of a superhero.

    Wonder Woman who wasnt.jpg

In spirit, it reminds me of this Frank Miller image from the 70s.

Well, yeah but because she's supposed to be an evil alternate version doesn't mean she can't be a poorly written evil alternate version.

    Which Injustice Diana 100% is.

This is why I can't jump on the replace Patty Jenkins bandwagon. Regardless of what issues WW84 may have had, Jenkins was dedicated to keeping the spirit of Wonder Woman intact. And she refused to portray Wonder Woman Warrior Princess in either film.

Considering the obvious TDKR influence on Batman, this wouldn't be surprising.

I feel like the movie would have been treated like an old school epic, with lots of mythical themes and pathos. But, I doubt he would have given her as much opportunity to show her compassion and diplomatic nature.

That said, she probably would have had strong character moments after having overcome the tragic elements, but Snyder tends to give the characters too much inner conflict before getting to the point of actualization for fans.

For example, in the original WW, her anger and temptation to kill her enemy lasts about 5 minutes. It's foreshadowed by confusion and disappointment, which is spread out over moments of adventure, discovery, and laughter. With Snyder, her quest to kill Ares would probably see her defeating (or slaying) enemy after enemy, growing more and more disillusioned with her mission, before she finally realizes that the only way to defeat the god of war is to teach mankind the way of peace. (Although if she were to actually "walk away at the end" and retreat back to Themyscira, the movie would definitely end on a sad note.)
