Where are you getting the stuff about the budget?

Back in 2015 the original filming application had a $155 million budget

But according to Tatum it’s going to be a smaller movie like Logan and Deadpool.
So I’m guessing $60 million or maybe a little higher.
It’s not going to be a big budget superhero movie as originally planned.

At this point, I rather this movie doesn't happen and wait for the Disney's new X-men movies.
Disney will probably be looking for characters that haven't appeared that much in the Fox movies to avoid repetition, and Gambit is probably the most recognizable X-men that fit that requirement.

Eh if Fox can make it then make it. Would like to see Tatum's take on it so I can at least compare it to Marvel's. Not to mention not sure Marvel will do anything with the character that I would like given their largely juvenile humor and take on the comics.

I'm awful and I'd rather not see Tatum paly "Gambit" - I don't have any faith in his acting abilities no matter how much he loves Gambit.

If this ever gets made the trailer would be my decision if I'd watch it but a part of me wants to refuse because I don't think Tatum is the right guy for the character.

I don't want him to play Gambit in the MCU, but if they get this made before the X-Men gets integrated into the MCU and the character doesn't carry over into that universe, then I'd be fine with it. I respectfully disagree with that. The vast majority actors are very talented. Even the XCU, while a lot more inconsistent, still has a lot of really good actors.
