I thought he looked pretty badass with it IMO. How about you?

Drawn by Tom Grummett before it became the ponytail, hell yes.

I liked it quite a bit. Some artists went way too mullet with it than intended, but it basically consisted of the first 4 years or so of my reading Superman comics till he finally cut it in the Wedding Album. Death Metal was cool but at the same time way too straight. Superman's got wavy hair at the very least. TBH the best middle-man I've seen that I think could actually serve as a permanent look was the longer hair he sported in Futures End. It wasn't super long but noticeably longer than usual.

"They can be a great people Kal-El, they wish to be. They only lack the light to show the way. For this reason above all, their capacity for good, I have sent them you. My only son." - Jor-El
Not really no. But you had even some of the classic greats like Swan give it a shot, Garcia Lopez and Kane both nailed it. Jon Bogdanove also just had a great way of drawing it.

From Death Metal? Sure, but only within that story. I think Superman's hair should be longer than we normally see it, but only at this length

I loved the 90s long hair.
Superman should always rock a shaggy look kinda like Tom Welling circa SMALLVILLE season 3. Tom Welling looks like Superman walked off the page anyway.
Give him a beard, too.

Superman should have hair like a Tressy doll.
My three sisters had a Tressy doll (which they wouldn't let me play with because I was a boy, sigh)--this was like their Barbie doll (I guess my parents couldn't afford Barbie, but they could get a Tressy). And you could make her hair any length you wanted.
If Superman has contol over his follicles then he should be able to give himself different hair lengths.
Just the term "badass" associated with Superman makes me cringe a bit, because I really think that's what they were going for when he came back from the dead and dressed in black and wielding a big gun. And it was awful. And I just can't escape that image.
I prefer Superman with shorter hair than that. Not crew cut or even super short, but not long enough to put in a pony tail. Several of the in between lengths look good to me. But I don't mind long as as long as it's not part of a purposeful aesthetic to make him look edgier. Just a style he happens to like. Though I don't think it's as attractive.
No, I don't like it. Mullet Superman doesn't work for me. Should never have been done.
Might mistake him for Lex Luthor if he has long hair.
