One other thing about Bertinelli: don't forget, she's the post-CoIE replacement for Helena Wayne, the Earth-2 Huntress. So she also had that as consideration for linking her to the "Bat-family" (even though that's not an in-story reason).

I don't know much about this character, other than the 'No Man's Land' story, but liked her there. Otherwise I've only seen her show-up on occasion as a guest appearance. It's nice to see that the character seems to have had a resurgence lately.

If you can, get your hands on Birds of Prey by Gail Simone.
This has a pretty good showing of her character as well as it being just a very well written series as a whole.
