I was thinking it would be Willie Lumpkin.

He also died in a SHIELD book in the 90's. Fury died in the 90's too.

Wait so the guy that who was always chasing Godzilla in the 70's and briefly appeared in one panel of Transformers #3 was a damn robot in disguise himself????

Great, so now all those back issues I own are worthless to me.

    F---ing Marvel.

Dum-Dum should have died of old age years ago. Dude is at least as old as Fury.

I know there was a retcon about ALL the surviving Howlers having Fury's anti aging formula, bur Marvel itself forgets about that retcon half the time.

So this is somewhere between "So what?" and "Didn't he die already?" on the revelation scale.

    It won't last.

Not because they're going to be a huge backlash or a demand to bring him back, but just because SHIELD doesn't have all that many interesting looking characters anyway.

I can easily see the guy appearing under a different writer without even bothering to explain it away. He's just back. Maybe several years after that somebody will throw in a line or two to explain it, but nobody will care then either.

This isn't like killing Captain America or even Aunt May. They're killing the supporting cast member of a character that's mostly just used as a guest star and is being phased out anyway.

Just yesterday I was reading a couple of old issues of Captain America where Dum Dum is having a heart attack while trying to help rescue Cap from Hydra... so it was just a mechanical malfunction?

    Agreed.
Plus, Dum-Dum was killed by Daken in the Wolverine:Origins run a few years back it was supposed to be a "big death" then also...I guess THAT one was a Skrull maybe?

Half of SHIELD's staff is probably LMDs, so not a surprise.

I'm sure he'll stay as dead as Bucky. The LMD's must really be good considering he was one of the people replaced by a skrull. You'd think they'd notice that.
