Default Radio Squad (feature originally named "Calling All Cars") Appreciation 2021

Before Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster started Superman in Action Comics #1 (1938), they provided quite a few other features for DC Comics, such as the "Radio Squad".

First appearance (under the feature name "Calling All Cars"): More Fun Comics #11 (July 1936)

Now, remember, this was in 1936 (about 85 years ago!), so the treatment of women back then is quite different from what would be acceptable in a comic book story these days. Also, the idea of police patrol cars that could communicate by wireless radios was still a somewhat recent innovation back then.

For supposedly common place in those times, I keep seeing this grown men spanking grown women thing in early comics, but I never see proof this happened commonly in real life.

I definitely know they would smack women (the director of Wizard of Oz famously smacked the Dorothy actress to stop her from laughing) publicly. And beat woman too unfortunately.

But only in comics do I see men spanking women publicly.

And there's also this threat from Batman's first encounter with Catwoman . . .
